    Description

    Overview: The Team Lead will spearhead the complete implementation of the Cannabis and other projects as necessary under the supervision of the Director of Health. This project addresses a significant gap in understanding surrounding Indigenous Women, Two- Spirit, Lesbian, Gay, Transgender, Queer, Asexual, Intersex, and other diverse gender identities and sexual orientations (IW2SLGTQAI+) use of cannabis. This project aims to equip Healthcare Service Providers (HSCPs) with essential knowledge and language, enabling them to provide non-discriminatory care to IW2SLGTQAI+ who use cannabis.
    Responsibilities :

    • Lead the Cannabis project ensuring all associated duties are carried out efficiently and effectively.
    • Hold Advisory Circle Meetings to plan and develop educational webinars and facilitation guide that align with the needs demonstrated from online surveys and opinions and perspectives of our partners.
    • Lead and develop webinars, one each for healthcare providers, social service providers and allied health professionals.
    • Develop, disseminate and evaluate retrospective surveys.
    • Develop facilitation guides, reports and resources.
    • Lead Advisory Committee meetings, and discussions with community members, Elders, and Indigenous people with lived and living experience.
    • Launch report/guiding documents on NWAC's cannabis education website
    • Other duties as assigned
    Education and Experience
    • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., public health, social work, Indigenous studies) or equivalent experience. Master's Degree is considered an asset.
    • 2-5 years of experience in program coordination and/or research within a non-profit community organization.
    • Experience in project management, particularly in community-based initiatives or healthcare settings.
    • Excellent understanding of issues related to cannabis, substance use, and Indigenous health.
    • Ability to develop and deliver culturally sensitive educational webinars, workshops/resources.
    Knowledge
    • Knowledge and understanding of Indigenous Peoples in Canada and internationally, their cultures, histories and traditions;
    • Knowledge of key issues impacting the health and wellbeing of IW2SLGTQAI+ in Canada and internationally;
    • Understanding of cannabis and harm reduction legislation and policy;
    • Understanding of the Individual, institutional, and systemic issues affecting the health and well-being of IW2SLGTQAI+ individuals and communities in Turtle Island and Inuit Nunangat;
    • Knowledge of trauma-informed approaches and Indigenous cultural competency.
    • Participatory and community-based research approaches;
    • Indigenous knowledge systems and Indigenous research methodologies, and strengths-based approaches in research;
    • Ability to respectfully conduct research and analysis with Indigenous peoples and present information in various reports;
    • Ability to develop recommendations to support senior management with their decision making processes with policy directions.
    Skills
    • Strong writing and verbal communication skills in both English and French an asset;
    • Strong research and analytical skills;
    • Ability to carry out culturally appropriate gender-based analysis (training will be provided);
    • Excellent interpersonal skills;
    • Ability to apply sound judgment and make decisions within the area, often on short notice;
    • Ability to prioritize, multi-task and organize work effectively and under pressure;
    • Ability to conduct research in cooperation and consultation with diverse stakeholders;
    • Strong ability to build positive working relationships and rapport with team, community, and stakeholders;
    • Strong ability to navigate or learn various software's including survey software, data-storage software, project management software, Outlook and Teams, etc.;
    • Ability to carry out research, analyze data, and advance effective advocacy and communication strategies under the supervision of the Director of Health.

    Working Conditions

    • Remote work (travel may be required but ample notice will be given)
    • Overtime may be required at times; (these hours must be pre-approved by the Director of Health)
    • Employees are expected to multi-task with possible interruptions from colleagues, management or other people.
    Salary range: 80,000-85,000K per annum commensurate with qualifications and experience.
