    Our client, Horn IT Solutions Inc., ("Horn IT") is actively seeking a talented and experienced Technical Support Engineer to our growing team. The successful candidate will have experience in IT security across a broad spectrum of industries.

    The Technical Support Engineer is knowledgeable in the world of information security and the challenges that network security brings, including an in-depth understanding of a variety of cyber security threats and any other vulnerabilities that may affect the clients they work for. This role reports to the Service Desk Manager for performance and the Manager - Centralized Services will assign and follow up on workload.

    Technical Responsibilities

    • Manage vulnerability assessments and remediation efforts, with a preference for experience with Tenable products.
    • Utilize RMM (Remote Monitoring and Management) tools for efficient network monitoring and maintenance.
    • Implement and maintain patch management processes to ensure system security and stability.
    • Develop and maintain scripts (Powershell, BASH) for automation and efficiency.
    • Administer MDM (Mobile Device Management) solutions such as Jamf and Intune.
    • Oversee identity services such as Entra ID and other related services.
    • Utilize and maintain security tools including EDR (Endpoint Detection and Response), AV (Antivirus), and SIEM (Security Information and Event Management) systems.
    • Leverage APIs (Application Programming Interfaces) for automation of security processes.
    • Demonstrate a proactive approach to problem-solving and be self-motivated in identifying and addressing security concerns.
    • Maintain thorough and accurate documentation of security procedures and protocols.

    Who We Are

    Horn IT provides clients with a wide range of technical services from cybersecurity checks to monitoring to second level service support to having a client's networks completely outsourced.

    While our business roots are in Durham, our clients span the GTA and southwestern Ontario. Our company works remotely 100%. Candidates who live outside of Ontario will be required to work ET hours of 9 am to 5 pm, Monday through Friday with some evening and weekend work periodically.

    Qualifications and Skills

    Successful candidates will have:

    • A college or university education and a technical certification.
    • 3+ years of experience in IT security roles.
    • Proficiency with vulnerability management tools, preferably Tenable.
    • Familiarity with RMM tools for network monitoring and maintenance.
    • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
    • Intermediate scripting skills in Powershell and BASH.
    • Experience with MDM solutions such as Jamf and Intune.
    • Knowledge of identity services like Entra ID.
    • Understanding of security tools and their functions including EDR, AV, and SIEM.
    • Ability to leverage APIs for automation.
    • Self-starter with the ability to learn new skills and adapt to changing environments.
    • Excellent documentation skills to maintain clear and thorough records of security processes.
