PROGRAM:
Support to Family Care Network


LOCATION:
East Kootenay areas of BC (Cranbrook, Creston, Fernie, Invermere, Golden etc.)


STATUS:
Permanent Part-Time


COMPENSATION:
$ $32.51 per hour (Grid 12 as per collective agreement)


HOURS of WORK: 27 hours per week. Monday-Friday, Flexible schedule.


SPECIAL CONDITION:

This position travels frequently within the East Kootenay region and works a flexible schedule including some evenings and weekends as needed, to meet the unique needs of our clients.


ABOUT THE JOB:


The Network Facilitator provides ongoing support services to the Support to Family Care Network of Foster Parents, Kinship, and Out of Care Providers.


Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Enhancing communication in the network
  • Supporting caregivers in crisis and in protocol processes
  • Assisting MCFD and ICFSA (Indigenous Child and Family Service Agencies) in recruiting and retaining caregivers
  • Facilitating knowledge/skillbuilding workshops
  • Providing various learning opportunities
  • Collaborating with community service providers and other professionals in supporting caregivers
  • Team/program development
  • Liaising with the Youth in Care Network and supporting Foster Parents with youth transitioning out of care

EDUCATION, TRAINING, and EXPERIENCE:


  • Diploma in Human/Social Service
  • Two years of related experience in the field including experience facilitating group educational workshops
  • Or a combination of education, training, and experience

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, and ABILITIES:


  • Strong demonstrated facilitation experience delivering educational workshops and training
  • Extensive knowledge of the foster care system including protocols and processes
  • Experience in supporting youth with life skills building and transitioning to independence
  • Ability to effectively develop and implement social service programs
  • Strong technological skills using programs such as Zoom, MS Teams, Excel, Word, and Publisher
  • Solid organizational, planning, and time management skills
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as a strong member of the team
  • Strong capability to provide support to individuals and families in crisis
  • Ability to work collaboratively and confidentially with foster parents, social workers, and community professionals
  • Demonstrated advocacy skills
  • Ability to adhere to the Code of Conduct, Confidentiality, policies, and values of the agency
  • Other job duties as required

REQUIREMENTS:


  • Valid Class 5 Driver's license (or equivalent) and safe driving record
  • Own vehicle with Business Use and thirdparty liability insurance of $5 million (reimbursement is provided).
  • Must be able to travel frequently and work a flexible schedule.
  • This job requires union membership.
