- Function in cleaning and disinfection of both Operating Rooms (ORs) and surgical equipment as well as equipment used within the Animal Resource Centre to house and care for a variety of species of laboratory animals.
- Be involved in stocking of OR rooms, laundry of the surgical linens, preparation of materials for surgery as well as processing cages, washing and prepping items for autoclaving, sweeping and mopping surgical spaces and running the floor machine routinely.
- Need to ensure quality control measures are carried out, such as biological indicators in autoclaves and the recording of chemical indicators according to established standards.
- Also carry out routine machine maintenance on washers and autoclaves as well as assist husbandry staff in routine daily operations.
- At minimum completion of high school or recognized equivalent required
- Post-secondary certificate program in a Sterile Supply Process course an asset
- Related experience an asset
- Must not be allergic to rodents
- Ability to read, write and speak English
- Ability to work cooperatively as part of a team
- Good organizational and time management skills
- Knowledge of the Occupational Health & Safety Act and other relevant legislation
- Knowledge of the Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (

Position Summary
The role of Animal Care Support Worker provides support within the Animal Resource Centre Department by cleaning and stocking of large animal surgical suites and daily washing, cleaning, sanitizing and sterilization of a variety of equipment and spaces used within the ARC department. Familiarity with sterilization processes and standard operating procedures an asset.
