    Purpose
    Leads and oversees the Sales Effectiveness team in Canada, supporting the GBP Sales team globally and the broader GBP business on many key functions, ensuring business strategies, plans and initiatives are executed / delivered in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.

    The Director is a key member of the GBP Sales leadership team and contributes to the profitable growth of the business by providing strategic leadership, overseeing critical support and operational functions and leading various initiatives that enhance and enable the GBP strategy.

    Manages a diverse team with a broad set of responsibilities to support the business and drive revenue.

    Is engaged in and frequently leads complex cross-functional initiatives working closely with GBP partners and other business line partners

    What You'll Do:

  • Leads and drives a client-centric culture designed to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and best-practices;
  • Leads and supports strategic planning through the development and execution of robust GBP Sales strategy plans and goals working directly with the senior leadership team and ensuring alignment to overarching GBP and Bank strategy. Provides direct support to the SVP GBP Sales and leadership team for strategic initiatives and proactively executes on the delivery of leadership meetings, Sales Updates, external conferences and client events.
  • Supports sales and product teams by overseeing the creation and management of content and tools used to produce high quality, customizable, client-specific sales materials. This includes leading and overseeing the Proposal Writing Team and their production of best-in-class client-facing documents as required, the Proposal Generator tool and content integrity and Due Diligence Questionnaire responses.
  • Lead GBP Sales COO functions through various tasks including alignment with other GBM business lines on client planning Corporate & Investment Banking), scorecard/target setting, identifying training needs, in addition to specific COO functions for the market related to strategy, initiatives, results, and risk metrics, in support of GBP's growth plans.
  • Act as a Salesforce champion and subject matter expert and GBP Sales liaison with the Client Insights & Analytics team as well as GBP Analytics for business-related changes and/or improvements, deriving from valuable insights from GBP Sales partners.
  • Support continuing to establish a structure in GBP Sales to ensure strong sales performance, which includes but it not limited to: Analyze scorecard data for presentation of progress and results to GBP Sales Directors+ and validate and disseminate financial and non-financial metrics within the portfolio. With the aim of increasing revenues, converting prospects to clients, and increasing internal alignment and collaboration in GBP Sales among the six product groups (Cash Management/Deposits, Trade Finance, Supply Chain Finance, Commercial Card/VPA, Global Solutions, and Europe), coordinates and organizes GBP Sales' client planning activities, supporting with results analysis and measurement of impact. Analyze and prepare sales data from Salesforce/Customer 360 to support management decision making calling activity, pre-call planning, client planning activity, pipeline deal tracking and progression, joint call variances, cross-sell activities, etc.), tracking of significant wins, etc. Prepare deal pipeline and executive dashboard reports as required by GBP teams and senior leadership, as well as identify opportunities and strengths resulting from reporting to GBP Executives, leveraging key insights to support a forward-thinking approach.
  • Leads and directs employee development and engagement across GBP Sales through development and coordination of training programs to bridge skill gaps and enhance employee effectiveness and works closely with internal partners to produce an integrated product training and employee onboarding experience across all GBP.
  • Oversees the GBP Sales operating budget and capital expenditures budgets for all GBP Sales and ensures appropriate annual budget planning and ongoing expense management across GBP Sales. Acts as the point of contact for GBP Sales, working closely with finance teams in GBP and across the Bank. This includes overseeing the expense reimbursement system (Travel and Entertainment) and ensuring Bank guidelines and policies are adhered to.
  • Understand how the Bank's risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
  • Creates an environment in which the Sales Effectiveness Team pursues effective and efficient operations in accordance with Scotiabank's Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.
  • Builds a high-performance environment and implements a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops and motivates the team by fostering an inclusive work environment.
  • Using a coaching mindset and leadership behaviours, communicates vison/values/business strategy as well as manages and development planning for the team.
  • What You'll Bring:

  • Business degree and 10 plus years Banking and management experience; MBA strongly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of Corporate Banking and GBP strategies, structures and products
  • Global responsibility including North America, and Europe
  • Work Arrangement:
    Work in a standard office-based environment; non-standard hours are a common occurrence
