    Description

    What you will do:

  • Within an assigned portfolio, the HR Advisor will:Assist and advise Alex people leaders with human resource issues and questions.Manage and oversee leave of absences.Support people leaders to drive strong culture and team engagement.Build solid relationships and act as a trusted partner. Support people leaders with employee relations issues including conflict resolution, performance management, and disciplinary actions, and provide recommendations for resolution. Support full cycle recruitment and selection - develop job postings and descriptions, perform screenings, prepare and conduct interviews, and complete background checks. Make recommendations on salaries and increases in keeping with The Alex Compensation Policy. Assist with the implementation and ongoing support of performance evaluations.
  • Analyze trends and metrics in partnership with the People & Culture team to develop projects and strategic initiatives.
  • Stay current with industry trends and best practices in HR.
  • Proactively recommend initiatives to enhance the employee experience.
  • Provide suggestions for creation and revision of human resources policies and procedures, along with other related documents, as needed.
  • Co-Lead the organization's Employee Wellness Strategy.
  • Assist with the annual delivery of employee engagement surveys throughout the organization.
  • Lead the organization's annual submission to be recognized as a top employer in Alberta.
  • Administer and maintain the organization's leadership development program.
  • Other duties as required.

    • What you bring:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or equivalent.
  • One to three years of progressive experience in a Human Resource or related position is preferred; new graduates will also be considered.
  • Demonstrated relationship management skills along with leading, planning and executing strategic HR initiatives.
  • Proficiency using Microsoft (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams).
  • Experience using an HRIS or Applicant Tracking System is considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of human resource administration best practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive information and maintain confidentiality.
  • Capacity to empathize with team member's experiences.
  • Demonstrated understanding of diverse perspectives and backgrounds.
  • Ability to interpret legislation (Alberta Employment Standards and Alberta Human Rights Act) and company policies and provide relevant advice.
  • Proven track record of delivering results by demonstrating an ability to take independent action.
  • Excellent organization skills with high attention to detail.
  • High level of interpersonal skills and integrity; solid team player.
  • Ability to influence and maintain collaborative partnerships.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • A satisfactory vulnerable sector criminal record clearance is required.
  • Demonstrated knowledge, understanding and commitment to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada: Calls to Action.
  • Willingness to work within anti-racist and anti-oppressive frameworks and actively engage in ongoing learning about these frameworks.

    • Work Environment and Hours:

  • Main Building ( 2nd Ave SE)
  • 1.0 FTE (37.5 hours/week)
  • Standard hours 8:30 – 4:30, Monday to Friday, some flexibility in schedule is available.
  • Although rare, some weekends and evenings may be required.
  • Continuous extended periods of sitting, with some standing and walking (sometimes up/down stairwells).
