Through its proprietary venture building platform, R-LABS co-creates and helps grow companies with new business models that make an impact and build great value.

    At R-LABS, they believe the best way to predict the future is to help create it. They are a problem-centric venture builder focused exclusively on the real estate and housing industry. The organization is a venture builder with a unique partnership structure aligning the capabilities of Limited Partners with the council from Industry Partners.

    They partner with game-changing entrepreneurs and corporate innovators through their venture process to identify specific problems in the sector and create industry innovation through technology enabled business models. These models develop transformative solutions that can be piloted locally and scaled globally to drive meaningful change in real estate.

    R-LABS is looking for a Proven Company Builder who is passionate about problem solving with a mastery of innovation and venture tools, including the Business Models Canvas. An egoless learner who is results-focused, process-oriented, and can lead multi-disciplinary teams and partner with game changing entrepreneurs to create great companies.

    The Toronto-based, Managing Director, Ventures (MDV) is responsible for leading new ventures through the early company building stages of ideation and assessment in the formation of new companies through the R-LABS Venture Process and the creation of Net Asset Value (NAV) for the R-LABS Canada LP. The MDV leads the Venture team in the completion of customer validation, business model creation & financial projections, the identification of the key team, technology, and capital requirements. As a member of the R-LABS Executive Team, the MDV leads the Venture team, manages the relationships with Entrepreneurs in Residence and Co-Founders and is responsible for the gating and governance of the R-LABS Venture Process. The MDV delivers on the creation of new companies through stages 0-3 (Ideation > Assessment > Validation > Genesis) and NAV for the R-LABS Partnership and manage the R-LABS Venture Team, Process, governance and gating along with recommendations on advancing ventures into Stages 0-3.

    The ideal candidate brings experience as a founder and company builder and is connected across technology and innovator circles. You have worked in open innovation or a venture studio leading early-stage company formation and are experienced in evidence-based product/market fit and use of venture artifacts including Customer Value Proposition Canvas, Test Card/Learning Card, Lean Canvas, Business Model Canvas. Your familiarity with the financial aspects of company building complement your leadership in building, managing, and growing high performance, multi‐disciplinary teams.
