    Scope of Position

    We are looking for a Marketing and Communications Officer to support the implementation of the strategic plan to successfully grow our influence and impact as a public health charity. The primary focus of this role will be to support and execute marketing and communications activities, and support work to raise the profile, reputation, and reach of the Pacific Public Health Foundation, and public health broadly, as well as collaborating on and implementing communications that directly support the fundraising efforts of the Pacific Public Health Foundation.

    Reporting to the Associate Director of Marketing and Communications, this role works in collaboration with the CEO, and the Fund Development and Operations departments.

    Overview of the Position:

    · Collaborate on, and implement, communications strategies and plans that raise the profile of the Foundation, its strategic priorities, and image in the public sphere;

    · Manage content and all content-related projects, including writing, editing, and proofreading optimized content, including website content, campaign materials, reports, email communications, video scripts, print and digital advertisements, stories, and donor materials;

    · Create, write, organize, and maintain ongoing repository of impact stories related to Foundation-funded projects; collaborate with Operations department on project reporting and evaluation to support content;

    · Increase engagement and attract new audiences, including social media, public engagement, and thought leadership opportunities;

    · Prepare optimized content for print and digital materials: website, newsletters, campaign materials, as well as supporting content for social media, events, ads;

    · Create briefs and content outlines, and provide on-site strategic support for producing video and photographic content;

    · Create or oversee production of marketing and promotional materials, ads (print and digital), newsletters, and reports, and maintain library of all;

    · Research and evaluate marketing and promotional opportunities;

    · Implement communications plans and activities to support donor stewardship strategies;

    · Support media relations, including content creation, logistics, briefs, and managing media lists while building relationships with local and regional media;

    · Support and help coordinate knowledge translation and public engagement activities;

    · Support the partnership and engagement strategy;

    · Plan and implement campaigns to support awareness-raising and advocacy activities;

    · Support Foundation events and represent the Foundation at community and/or donor events;

    · Identify and coordinate new opportunities and partners for special events, brand activation, and profile-raising;

    · Support market research and audience research projects;

    · Implement processes and procedures to ensure efficiency and effectiveness; recommend infrastructure or resources as needed;

    · Collaborate with consultants and other stakeholders as required;

    · Develop and lead execution of internal and board communications strategies;

    · Collaborate with Operations and Fund Development teams and support work-flows across departments;

    · Perform other duties as required.

    Requirements:

    ● Minimum of three to five years relevant experience in marketing and communications or equivalent combination of education and experience.

    ● Demonstrated ability to define and implement marketing and communications goals and objectives for multiple target audiences, and to develop and implement strategic communications plans to accomplish goals.

    ● Strong writing skills required.

    ● Excellent oral and written communication skills.

    ● Comfort and experience discussing and advocating for social change and progressive initiatives.

    ● Proven experience with fund development initiatives and fundraising writing.

    ● Proven experience and understanding of public health, a health-related field, knowledge translation, and/or public and community engagement is a strong asset.

    ● Experience collaborating with consultants on marketing and communication pieces.

    ● Ability to efficiently organize and manage diverse projects while meeting multiple deadlines, along with thorough attention to all details and consistent follow through.

    ● Proven experience working in non-profit organizations.

    ● An understanding of, and passion for, working in a small and dynamic growing charity is particularly key.

    ● Experience managing, supervising, and engaging staff and direct reports is an asset.

    ● Commitment to the vision, mission, values, principles, and priorities of the Pacific Public Health Foundation.

    ● Ability to work flexible hours on occasion, based on predictable activities like early meetings and late events.
