    Description

    Current vacancy is at the Cambria Library. This recruitment may be used to fill future permanent, substitute, limited term, and temporary positions, both full-time and part-time throughout the County.

    The County of San Luis Obispo Public Libraries is currently recruiting for the position of Library Branch Manager at the Cambria Library. Under general supervision, this position will manage all aspects of the Cambria Library including providing exceptional customer service to Library customers and directly supervising three full-time frontline Library Associate staff. to view the full job description for Library Branch Manager.

    Effective July 1, 2024, the compensation for this position will increase by 2.50%. This is a bargained across the board increase for this job classification.

    The ideal candidate will have experience supervising or leading others; interacting with community members, outside agencies, and volunteer groups; and planning, coordinating, and implementing library programs, policies, and procedures. Spanish bilingual skills preferred.

    Knowledge of :

    • The principles, purposes, and practices of professional library work;
    • Current library trends, technology and systems;
    • Standard reference materials and online resources;
    • Knowledge of departmental organization;
    • Laws, rules, regulations, policies and procedures relating to assigned unit;
    • Library procedures and services;
    • Scheduling;
    • Civil Service Rules;
    • Principles of supervision.
    Ability to :
    • Apply professional knowledge to practical problems;
    • Manage projects; work with an automated circulation system;
    • Utilize electronic tools for reference; establish and maintain effective relationships with library users, community partners, and fellow employees;
    • Respond to and resolve difficult and sensitive patron inquiries and complaints;
    • Conduct group programming; communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing;
    • Plan, direct, and evaluate the work of staff as assigned;
    • Work with automated circulation system.
    Education and Experience

    A combination of education, training, and experience resulting in the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. An example of qualifying education and experience includes:

    Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a degree AND two years library experience. Licenses and Certificates

    A valid driver's license is required at the time of application. A valid CALIFORNIA driver license is required at the time of appointment and must be maintained throughout employment.
