Squamish Terminals has an immediate opening for an Assistant Maintenance Superintendent. This position is a one-year full-time contract.

The Position


The Assistant Maintenance Superintendent specializes in Enterprise Asset Management software, with a focus on developing and executing preventive maintenance plans for diverse mobile equipment and facility assets.

This role requires a deep understanding of maintenance management principles, planning, scheduling practices, and proficiency in using maintenance software systems.


Responsibilities include creating maintenance schedules, identifying crucial tasks, ensuring compliance with regulations, optimizing procedures to reduce downtime, administering work order processes, and collaborating with maintenance teams.

The Assistant Maintenance Superintendent's contributions aim to enhance equipment reliability, prevent unexpected breakdowns, and extend asset lifespan, thereby improving operational efficiency within the organization's Enterprise Asset Management framework.


Responsibilities & Activities

  • Design and implement preventive maintenance strategies for various mobile equipment and facility assets within the business unit.
  • Create comprehensive schedules for routine maintenance tasks based on equipment needs and manufacturer guidelines.
  • Develop preventive maintenance plans including work instructions, labour requirements, parts and material lists, and tool and equipment requirements.
  • Identify key maintenance tasks critical for ensuring the reliability and longevity of assets.
  • Prioritize and schedule essential maintenance activities to minimize equipment downtime and optimize operational efficiency.
  • Stay updated on industry regulations and compliance standards related to mobile equipment and facility maintenance.
  • Ensure that all maintenance activities adhere to regulatory requirements and manufacturer specifications.
  • Continuously analyze maintenance processes to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Develop and implement streamlined maintenance procedures to reduce downtime and enhance overall asset performance.
  • Proficiently use enterprise asset management software to input, manage, and track maintenance activities and asset data.
  • Ensure accurate and uptodate records of maintenance history, repairs, and part replacements within the software system.
  • Proficiently use enterprise asset management software to manage fault reports and create corrective work orders including work instructions, labour requirements, parts and material lists, and tool and equipment requirements in advance of releasing the corrective work orders for action.
  • Lead the scheduling and adjustment of preventative maintenance and corrective maintenance tasks, ensuring optimal timing and resource allocation.
  • Provide guidance and support to maintenance personnel regarding the implementation of maintenance plans.
  • Supervise the reservation of necessary parts, ensuring timely procurement and availability for scheduled maintenance activities.
  • Monitor resource availability, including labor and materials, to proactively address any potential shortages or constraints.
  • Track work order statuses meticulously, promptly identifying any deviations or delays, and collaborates with the maintenance team to address issues and maintain workflow efficiency.
  • Oversee maintenance activity reporting, ensuring accurate documentation and adherence to regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate comprehensive reporting on warranty information, inventory KPIs, and work order KPIs, providing valuable insights for decisionmaking and process improvement.
  • Monitor preventative maintenance compliance closely, verifying that scheduled tasks are completed as planned and identifying areas for improvement.
  • Execute purchase request process for both materials and services.
  • Support vendor communication, quotation, negotiation, and order processing.
  • Execute the identification of new parts required to be entered into the inventory management software system.
  • Administer the creation and maintenance of parts within the inventory management software system.
  • Identify inventory items requiring cycle counting and supervises the counting process.
