    Position Summary

    Under the direction of and in conjunction with the Regional Sales Director –the Commercial Manager is responsible for overseeing the development of the regional sales strategy as well as manage the top key accounts in the region. This is achieved through the analysis and interpretation of consumer, category and customer relevant information to derive insights and recommended courses of action in order to achieve regional performance objectives. The role works closely with a number of key stakeholders, namely Sales/Commercial Managers, Trade Marketing, Customer Insights and Research Group.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • In close collaboration with the Regional Director, lead the development of the regional sales strategy and associated processes.
    • In close collaboration with the Regional Director, monitor and assess business performance against regional KPIs and make sound commercial recommendations to course correct where appropriate.
    • Lead for customer management of top key account customers in Alberta, B.C. and Saskatchewan.
    • Lead the development of key category, customer and consumer insights for integration into regional sales strategies.
    • Generates compelling selling stories to support brand execution against the fundamentals of Distribution, Shelf, Price, Promotion and Display.
    • In conjunction with Trade Marketing and the Regional Sales Director, develops a tactical customer plan for program application and execution at the liquor board.
    • Builds and deliver sales capability training modules to close identified gaps associated with the above.
    • Liaise with and develop key strategic partnerships with individuals within Corby to develop and deliver the regional (customer and shopper) research needs.
    • Work closely with key stakeholders on development, implementation and monitoring of regional pricing strategy.
    • Function cooperatively and effectively within a team environment.
    • Lead and/or participate in special projects as required.
    • Gift pack forecasting, planning and execution.
    • Portfolio planning and budget management.
    • Regional activity calendar management.
    • LTO/NLVA/LVA Calendar Planning.
    • LTO and pricing pre and post analysis.
    • Commercial planning file.
    • Other duties as required.

    Key Competencies

    • Ability to manage customers needs and requests through appropriate negotiation cycle & techniques, in order to achieve Pernod Ricard's objectives.

    • Ability to establish and develop mutually beneficial and trusting business relationships with key internal / external stakeholders, through cooperation, integrity and with strong interpersonal & presentation skills.

    Consumer/Shopper Insight:

    • Ability to capture and exploit strong consumer / shopper understanding and trends to develop actions appealing to consumer needs (promotion, merchandising, animation, testing, assortment, sales opportunities, outlet activities,...).

    Market & Environment:

    • Ability to develop and maintain a deep knowledge of the business landscape and environment evolutions (legal, supply chain, tools...): key players (competitors, other consumer brands companies, key customers, ...), distribution channels – including their distinct go to market strategies – and category trends, in order to maximize business opportunities.

    Portfolio, Brands & Products:

    • Ability to develop and maintain a deep knowledge of Pernod Ricard's brands and their positioning within the competitive landscape to be able to coordinate portfolio and channel strategy, and to offer adequate solution to stakeholders (customers, consumers, opinion leaders, international distributors, internal stakeholders,...).

    Drive for Sales Results:

    • Ability to assess, recommend, implement and evaluate effectiveness of commercial activities (sales force, promotion, account investments,...) in order to optimize commercial performance and ensure excellence in execution.

    Contracts, Prices & Trade Terms:

    • Ability to assess, design, manage, monitor and optimize contracts, consistent prices and trade terms in order to drive PR profitability and sustainable.

    Commercial Strategy & Planning:

    • Ability to define, implement and get alignment behind a commercial plan, in line with PR Strategy, which takes into account the short and long term view and the characteristics of the local market environment.

    Analytical Thinking:

    • Ability to consider all appropriate information, break things down and determine cause and effect relationships to make effective recommendations and develop operational actions.

    Organization & Planning:

    • Ability to prioritize tasks and to manage efficiently time and resources in order to track and optimize the activity in a changing environment.
    • Financial Acumen:
    • Ability to integrate revenue and profitability aspects within sales activity to generate greatest ROI within budget guidelines.

    Other Requirements

    • University Degree
    • 3-5 years experience in a Category Management/Commercial Manager role within the CPG industry
    • Expertise in Category Management
    • Excellent Powerpoint and Excel knowledge
    • Wine and Spirit product knowledge an asset
    • Strong time management and organization skills with attention to detail and accuracy
    • Travel required - Must have a valid driver's license
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
