    Track Labourers / Technicians work as apart of the Rail Infrastructure team that is responsible for the ongoingmaintenance and safety of our 693 miles of track.

    Track Labourers / Technicians are responsiblefor inspecting, repairing and replacing rails, ties, switches and ballast. Enjoying physical labour andworking outdoors in Northern Ontario as well as being safety-minded are vitalto a career at ONTC.
    This entry-level position is your doorway to many opportunities foradvancement within the department.
    Performtasks associated with track work including but not limited to, pulling anddriving spikes, replacing ties, surfacing track, changing rail, bars, and othertrack components
    Read and interpret documents such as safety rules,operating and maintenance instructions and federal and provincial regulations
    Complyfully with all safety rules, policies
    Able to qualify in Canadian Rail Operating Rules (CROR), and MTR (Transport Canada Rules Respecting Track Safety)
    Working outdoors invarious weather conditions (sometimes extreme) and regular exposure todust and pollen


    BACKGROUNDINVESTIGATION:

    The successful candidate will need to pass thefollowing clearances: criminal record check, employment references and pre-employmentphysical and drug/alcohol testing.
