    Our offices are located mainly at 580 Booth Street in Ottawa, close to Dow's Lake and Preston St. The NRCan headquarters has a small gym, yoga classes as well as many restaurants within walking distance.

    Intent of the process

    The intent of this process is to fill one (1) indeterminate position.

    A pool of (fully or partially) qualified candidates may be established through this process to staff identical or similar positions within the Natural Resources Canada.

    Information you must provide In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

    EDUCATION
    Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in landscape architecture, urban planning, rural planning, community planning or some other specialty relevant to town planner positions.

    Note: The courses for the specialization must be acceptable and must have been taken at a recognized post-secondary institution, but not necessarily within a degree program in the required specialization.

    EXPERIENCE
    Experience in developing, implementing and managing complex* urban planning projects.
    Significant experience** analyzing strategic issues and providing strategic advice (both oral and written briefing) to Senior Managers (managers, directors, and above) in the area of land-use planning or real property portfolio planning.
    Experience managing multidisciplinary teams or working groups in the area of land-use or urban planning.
    Experience creating and maintaining networks with different partners such as federal departments, provinces, municipalities, other interest groups, etc.

    * A complex project is defined as an activity involving multiple stakeholders and dealing effectively with multi-faceted issues (such as operational changes, environmental, indigenous considerations, heritage or socioeconomic impacts). ** Significant experience is defined as the depth of experience normally associated with the execution of a diverse range of complex activities for a period of five (5) or more years. This includes the extent, depth, complexity and diversity of tasks and cases and the degree of autonomy from those activities. Applicants must clearly demonstrate their roles and responsibilities relating to the experience.

    ASSET QUALIFICATIONS / EDUCATION :
    Eligible to obtain registration status as a full member in a Canadian professional urban planning institute.

    Note – Candidates are responsible for providing proof of eligibility for registration status from a provincial planning institute or professional standards board.

    OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
    Willingness and ability to travel
    Ability and willingness to work overtime occasionally
    Willing and able to visit buildings, sites, construction sites, and wear personal protective equipment (PPE).
    Possession of a valid driver's license
