PROGRAM:
Lightwell Semi-independent Living - CLS

LOCATION: 444 St Paul Street Kamloops


STATUS:
Permanent Full-Time


COMPENSATION:
$ $29.76 per hour (Grid 10 as per collective agreement)

HOURS of WORK: 37.4 hours per week on average


SCHEDULES:

1. 4 on 2 off rotation (2 day-shifts, 8 AM to 4 PM followed by 2 evening-shifts, 4 PM to 12 AM)
2. 4 on 2 off rotation (between 4 PM to 12 AM)


ABOUT THE JOB:

The Residence Worker works in a cluster living program within a condominium to support 11 adults with diverse abilities to live independently


Areas of focus include:

  • Providing support in daily life skills building such as securing and maintaining stable employment, managing personal finances, enriching social and community connections, etc.
  • Motivating and engaging individuals in activities that promote health and wellbeing
  • Creating personcentered plans and working within the guidelines of existing plans
  • Connecting individuals to applicable community resources
  • Assisting with shopping, errands, household cleanliness, meal planning and preparation, medication administration, etc.
  • Providing personal care as required
  • Maintaining clear, timely, and accurate documentation

EDUCATION, TRAINING, and EXPERIENCE:


  • Community Support Certificate or equivalent
  • One (1) year of recent related experience assisting persons with physical and developmental diverse abilities
  • Or a combination of education, training, and experience.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, and ABILITIES:

Demonstrated knowledge and strong abilities to**:

  • Interact effectively and support individuals with physical and cognitive diverse abilities
  • Provide appropriate recreational and other activities for individuals
  • Provide life skills support and development
  • Provide personal care as required
  • Recognize, analyze, and deal effectively and proactively with difficult behaviours
  • Handle crisis situations effectively using appropriate intervention techniques
  • Work independently and as a member of a team
  • Problemsolve effectively
  • Document and report information in a timely and accurate manner
  • Manage conflicts effectively and maintain positive working relationships with all parties involved
  • Collaborate with other professionals, individuals, their family members, and supervisors
  • Provide personcentered services in a professional and creative way

REQUIREMENTS:


  • Valid BC Class 4 Unrestricted Driver's License
  • BC Class 5 DL is accepted with the condition of ability to obtain a Valid Class 4 Unrestricted driver's license within the probationary period. (Reimbursement available for the costs)
  • A safe driving record
  • Access to a safe vehicle may require Business Use insurance with $5 Million Liability (reimbursement provided)
  • Complete set of Covid19 vaccinations (minimum two doses)
  • Physical abilities to provide individuals with personal care and recreational activities indoors and outdoors.
  • This job requires union membership.
  • Background checks through the BC Ministry of Public Safety and Solicitor General and RCMP are required. (reimbursement provided)
