    Primary responsibilities:
    • Review material requirement report daily and generate purchase orders with designated vendors to meet production requirements.
    • Establish and cultivate positive relationships with vendors regularly to support a reliable supply chain with material requirements consistent with the highest level of cost effectiveness.
    • Handle correspondence concerning over-shipments, delivery shortages, changes in quantity, delivery dates and prices, and report such changes to the interested parties in a prompt manner.
    • Monitor market trends, assess supplier capabilities, and identify cost-saving opportunities in the procurement process for both short term and long term.
    • Maintain vendor price file accuracy and ensure all price changes are up to date within the system.
    • Review product usage and communicate product requirement/forecast to vendors.
    • Issue requests for quotes/proposals (RFQ/RFP) and select the best source consistent with cost, quality, and delivery requirements.
    • Act as a liaison between suppliers and involved departments to help resolve procurement related problems.
    • Support customer requirements by communicating frequent updates to required parties on critical raw material issues.
    • Assist development activities in sourcing of new products and R & D projects in obtaining product information and samples as required.
    • Support profit improvement plan to reduce overall raw material cost annually.
    • Secure and maintain appropriate inventory levels consistent with targeted inventory goals and as set by management.
    • Support budgeted guidelines for inventory dollars and turns by negotiating requirements with suppliers. Consideration must also be given to storage capabilities within warehouse, silos, and railcar retention charges.

    Requirements:
    • Post Secondary Education in business administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
    • 3-5 years of experience related in purchasing or procurement.
    • Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
    • Self-motivated; ability to execute and prioritize in a dynamic environment
    • Experience in a manufacturing environment – Plastic processing an asset
    • ERP software knowledge and experience
    • Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
    • Proficiency in the use of base MS Office tools (Excel, Word etc.)
