The Electrical/Controls Engineer will be part of a team that provides engineering and automation solutions to our industrial based clients in a professional manner that is client-driven and responsive. The Electrical/Controls Engineer will undertake EIC system design and programming for their clients. Client applications and technologies are continuously changing, so the work will be challenging and dynamic, often working within tight deadlines. The work will be determined according to client parameters, needs and expectations meeting current electrical codes and requirements. The work will be completed in the QCA office or in the field at the customer's location as required.

Duties and Responsibilities:

This position will perform a variation of the following duties, depending on operational needs, customer needs, project requirements:

•EIC engineering and design for greenfield and existing industrial applications.

•Use standard engineering tools and software to validate electrical systems.

•Use AutoCAD and AutoCAD Electrical to produce design drawings and make changes to drawings.

•Develop electrical schematics per ULA and CEC standards, panel layouts and BOMs for custom control panels, create drawing sets from scratch using existing company templates.

•Develop equipment and instrument list, select appropriate equipment per customer specifications and QCA standards. Generate PLC IO list and PLC rack layouts.

•Develop network topology drawings and design network panels.

•Design safety systems, ability to produce safety architecture drawings and wiring diagrams.

•Develop single line diagrams, sizing circuit breakers, cables and VFDs, load demand calculations.

•Lighting and emergency lighting design, perform simulations and develop drawings.

•Write technical documentation to support design activities and document work plans and work performed.

•Experience interpreting specifications, ensure compliance to company standards and client requirements, provide feedback in the event procedure changes become necessary.

•Correspond with electrical fabrication shops and electrical contractors.

•Inspect electrical components during and after installation, perform FAT testing in-house and occasionally at remote locations.

•Perform supervision and commissioning services at the client site as needed as per the commissioning schedule which will occasionally require work to be completed after hours, on weekends, and on statutory holidays from time to time.

•Communicate effectively with the client about project progress in a manner that is consistent with the project goals and QCA's best interest.

•Manage individual projects to insure they are prioritized and completed to schedule, give feedback to project managers, provide time estimates for work that will be performed.

•Enter work hours and comments into the time sheet program every week, on time, as per management deadlines

•Other duties and responsibilities as assigned

MUST HAVES:

Degree in Electrical Engineering

P.Eng or Eit Designation

3+ years of experience in a role involving industrial machine design, electrical/controls design

Design experience of power distribution systems: V - V - V is a plus

Working experience with Experience AutoCAD Electrical or similar CAD software, Microsoft Office, and Excel.

3+ years experience with PLC programming (Rockwell) is a big +

Familiarity with Canadian Code (3+ years)
