The at Memorial University is among Canada's best engineering programs, with vibrant and competitive research and significant engagement with industry and the engineering profession. Engineering at Memorial is one of the few schools in Canada where the mandatory co-op model is integrated into the undergraduate curriculum. The dynamic Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science has continued to grow to a diverse student population of over 2, students (up to 1, undergraduates and over graduate students) as well as a dedicated team of 73 staff and 80 faculty members. The Faculty has six accredited undergraduate programs (in civil, computer, electrical, mechanical, ocean and naval architectural, and process engineering) as well as a new mechatronics engineering program which launched in Fall . The Faculty has 1, co-op work term placements per year, 20 graduate programs and over $10 million per year in annual research funding.
The Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science is the academic and administrative leader of a dynamic Faculty at . Reporting to the Provost and Vice-President (Academic) and serving as a senior member of Memorial's leadership team, the Dean is responsible for fostering excellence in teaching, research, service, undergraduate and graduate education and for leading fundraising, advancement and community engagement. The Dean is also responsible for managing human, financial and physical infrastructure resources. Across all these endeavors, the Dean will ensure creative and effective allocation of resources in support of the Faculty's priorities. As the Faculty's foremost ambassador, the Dean will define a clear strategic direction and work collaboratively to advance the Faculty's goals and ensure continued success as one of Memorial University's outstanding professional schools. The Dean will champion the growth of the Faculty's research enterprise and support high-quality, innovative academic programs that continue to meet Canadian Engineering Accreditation Board (CEAB) accreditation principles while building and maintaining an equitable and inclusive culture. Fostering collaborative relationships with diverse stakeholders and growing industry and international partnerships will enable the Dean to be attuned to emerging technology, trends and initiatives to position the Faculty for innovation and success.
