    Description
    Sunchild First Nation School Jr. Sunchild First Nation School is seeking an experienced and inspiring Principal to lead our Junior-Senior High Division.

    They will be committed to advancing Indigenous education, fostering student success and building strong relationships with students, families and community members.

    Sunchild First Nation services the community of Sunchild First Nation which is located 65 km northwest of Rocky Mountain House.

    Sunchild School is a K to Gr.

    12 School with 370 students and 70 staff which is divided into two administrative and education teams, an elementary K-6 and Jr.

    The teaching facilities are well-equipped and offer bright and technology-rich learning environments.

    The staff is dedicated to student-centred programming that promotes academic excellence and foster an environment that celebrates Indigenous Cree ways and exposes students to opportunities for social and emotional growth.

    There is availability in teacher housing close to the school. We have a competitive pension and benefit package, as well as salaries comparable to the provincial school boards.
    Foster a culturally responsive and inclusive learning environment that honours Indigenous traditions, traditions, languages, and perspectives.

    • Oversee curriculum implementation with a focus on Indigenous knowledge, history, and perspectives.
    • Create and maintain strong relationships with students, parents and the broader community, fostering a sense of partnership and collaboration.

    Solid Understanding of and leadership with current trends in curriculum implementation, instruction, assessment practices and reporting, and improving student learning.


    • Ability to foster intellectual, emotional and social growth in students in a trauma informed way
