    Description

    The Distillery Restaurants Corp., creators of El Catrin Destileria, Cluny Bistro, Pure Spirits Oyster House and Grill, Madrina Bar y Tapas, District Pizza and Jardin Kitchen and Juice Bar, and Distillery Events, is looking for a keen and experienced Jr. Sous Chef . to join our leadership ranks. Our venues are located in the Distillery Historic District, one of North America's most exciting art and shopping destinations and home to some of the top-ranked restaurants in the City of Toronto, including ours.

    Our Jr. Sous Chefs have a proven track record of cooking in a demanding environment paired with progressive growth and leadership experience.

  • What you'll be doing:

  • Supervise the Kitchen team and ensure that all standards are being met.
  • Coach and mentor the team in best practices.
  • Support the team during service to ensure a seamless operation and amazing dining experience for our guests.
  • Communicate the restaurant's vision to all team members and lead by example. Reinforce the DRC's Mission & Priorities daily.
  • Consistently monitor kitchen operations and cleanliness.
  • Build and maintain relationships with team members and Front Of House management alike.
  • Support ordering and receiving, ensuring proper product levels, rotation and storage.
  • Lead and support a culture that revolves around the experience and enjoyment of food and cooking.
  • Demonstrate high personal integrity and business ethics that align with the DRC's Mission & Priorities.
  • Give suggestions to Sous Chefs, the Chef de Cuisine and the Executive Chef on how to improve kitchen area, process/procedures, etc.
  • Support training and development initiatives as well as performance management and employee coaching.
  • Lead team by example to exhibit, encourage and motivate DRC's Values & Beliefs.
  • What you'll to bring to the kitchen:

  • EXPERIENCE. You've got around five (5) years' experience cooking in a fast-paced restaurant environment with progressive growth into leadership roles. Your current role should be CDP, Junior Sous Chef or Sous Chef.
  • A HINT OF SPAIN. Experience with Spanish cuisine is a definite asset
  • KNOWLEDGE. Culinary degree/diploma and/or the equivalent in education and experience.
  • LIFELONG LEARNING. You're hungry for learning, coaching and career growth. You'd love to be part of a team that achieves a Michelin Star.
  • SOLUTIONS. You're a strong problem solver with an insatiable desire to impact performance.
