    Commercial Property Underwriter

    Downtown Toronto, ON - Hybrid

    6 Months Extendable Contract

    Our client is a leading Property & Casualty Insurance firm headquartered in downtown Toronto. They are committed to revolutionizing commercial insurance through cutting-edge AI-enabled digital solutions. Their team comprises industry experts dedicated to delivering innovative, efficient, and client-centric insurance services on a global scale.

    We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Commercial Property Underwriter to join our client's team on a 6-month contract basis. As a pivotal member of their team, you will be responsible for meticulously reviewing and documenting underwriting decisions. Your expertise will contribute significantly to the implementation of AI-enabled digital solutions, thereby reshaping the landscape of commercial insurance worldwide.

    Key Responsibilities:

    1. Underwriting Analysis: Conduct thorough analysis of commercial property insurance applications, assessing risks, and determining appropriate coverage based on established guidelines and best practices.

    2. Documentation: Document underwriting decisions accurately and comprehensively, ensuring clarity and transparency for internal stakeholders and regulatory compliance.

    3. Risk Assessment: Evaluate complex commercial property risks, including buildings, contents, and associated exposures, to determine appropriate underwriting strategies and pricing.

    4. Collaboration: Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including actuaries, data scientists, and IT professionals to contribute to the development and implementation of AI-enabled digital solutions.

    5. Quality Assurance: Ensure underwriting processes adhere to company policies, industry regulations, and quality standards, actively identifying areas for improvement and implementing enhancements as needed.

    6. Knowledge Sharing: Share expertise and insights with team members, providing guidance and mentorship to junior underwriters to foster professional growth and development.

    Requirements:

    1. Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Insurance, or related field; relevant professional certifications (e.g., CIP, CPCU, AU, ARM) preferred.

    2. Minimum 5 years of experience in commercial property underwriting within the insurance industry, with a proven track record of sound decision-making and risk assessment.

    3. Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and make data-driven underwriting decisions.

    4. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

    5. Proficiency in utilizing underwriting tools and software applications; experience with AI-enabled digital solutions is a plus.

    6. Detail-oriented mindset with a commitment to accuracy and quality in documentation and underwriting processes.

    7. Adaptability and willingness to embrace change in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
