    Your Opportunity:

    As a dedicated Registered Nurse / Registered Psychiatric Nurse at Rockyview General Hospital on unit 45, you have a pivotal role as an integral member of our multidisciplinary healthcare team. Focused on in-patient acute psychiatric nursing, you will engage in collaborative efforts to provide holistic and comprehensive care, addressing the diverse needs of individuals, families, and communities. In this position, you will work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to develop a robust plan of care to stabilize patients suffering from acute psychiatric illness. Your responsibilities include delivering targeted interventions with an awareness of evaluation to modify approaches based on evolving patient needs. Your scope of practice will encompass physical and mental status assessments, de-escalation, and conflict-resolution. Additionally, you will engage in discharge planning that promotes, maintains, and restores mental health, while preventing mental illness injury, and disability. In this role, you will also be responsible for facilitating and delivering applicable group content to the patients. You may also support in the care of patients receiving Electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) treatment, ensuring patients are informed and assist in the pre and post treatment assessment and monitoring. Your communication skills will be instrumental in effectively engaging with other departments, services, and clients, ensuring the seamless provision of high-quality care.     Description:

    As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit Holders shall be paid $ - $ Upon being entered into the register of Registered Nurses, the rate of pay shall be adjusted to the rate of pay applicable to a Registered Nurse in accordance with AHS/UNA Article or (ii) as applicable.     Required Qualifications:

    Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, completion of the following free courses is required: CRNA Medication Management - Chapters and the NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification (

    Additional Required Qualifications: Preferred Qualifications:

    Certification in Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) preferred. Recent nursing experience in an acute in-patient psychiatric setting is preferred. Knowledge of the Mental Health Act preferred. Knowledge of the Addiction and Mental Health related resources across the Calgary Zone preferred. Knowledge of trauma-informed care is preferred.
