Job Description:
In line with the Vision, Purpose, and Values, and strategic direction of Island Health (Vancouver Island Health Authority), the safety of patients and staff is a top priority, requiring continuous quality and safety enhancements in all job aspects.
Reports to the Chief Engineer or designate, the role involves operating, repairing, and maintaining low-pressure steam and/or hot water boilers. It also includes conducting preventative and on-demand maintenance on air conditioning equipment, emergency power, and related facility equipment, complying with relevant codes and regulations.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education, Training And Experience:
Certificate of competency as a 5th Class Power Engineer recognized by the Province of BC. Two years recent relevant experience or an equivalent mix of education, training, and experience. Valid Class 5 vehicle license.

This position is located at Salt Spring Island's Lady Minto Hospital. It entails an on-call commitment and serves as the primary Facility Maintenance and Operations staff member at this acute care site, overseeing all maintenance tasks and coordinating maintenance staff and contractors.
