General Accountability:


  • Reporting to the Supervisor, Rail Vehicles, the incumbent carries out a variety of assignments affecting the production planning, estimating, materials management, production control and compliance of all Carhouse and Shop maintenance activities. The incumbent shall track and monitor performance (actual vs planned) and shall ensures efficient administrative and office services through supervision of Production Control staff with emphasis on employee safety, performance and development.

Key Job Functions:


  • Developing and maintaining Master Schedules for carhouse and shop locations.
  • Developing and maintaining project prototype schedules; developing and analyzing associated Job Plans, Work Cost Estimates (WCE) and Make vs Buy analysis for all projects and maintaining these processes throughout project life cycles
  • Assisting with the development of annual budgets, reviewing and reporting budget performance by period.
  • Developing and maintaining Critical Parts Material processes for program and nonprogram work.
  • Analyzing schedules for potential delays and developing program recovery plans as required to ensure programs are completed on time and on budget.
  • Execution and control of daily production activities including work order management and serial number configuration, ensuring all data entered into the maintenance management system is compliant.
  • Developing and maintaining weekly production reports, liaise with IT department to integrate auto generating Key Performance Indicators (KPI) reports, monitoring component spare ratios i.e. core, rebuild and new components to support fleet programs and corrective maintenance activities and making suggestion for procurement requirements.
  • Working with Procurement & Category Management in the planning and execution function for external component repair and overhaul, including contract administration.
  • Conducting investigations and evaluations for the best utilization of shop personnel and facility resources (e.g. materials, shop equipment, work methods/procedures) in order to increase productivity.
  • Setting up, maintaining, evaluating and/or implementing changes to production and maintenance management information systems, (e.g. work system for future vehicle programs, Production and Inventory Control System (PICS).
  • Reviewing existing administrative procedures and practices, and recommending, developing and implementing new and/or revised methods and procedures to improve efficiency (e.g. automated office systems to support the needs of the carhouse and shop locations).
  • Establishing and maintaining a safe work environment that adheres to the OHS&A and internal policy, conducting safety meetings, investigating incidents and initiating corrective action.
  • Reviewing job descriptions ensuring staff are trained in all aspects of their positions, updating as required to keep descriptions current with advancements in technology and present business practice.
  • Responsible for treating passengers and/or employees with respect and dignity and ensuring the needs of passengers or employees with disabilities are accommodated and/or addressed (if applicable and within their area of responsibility) in accordance with the Ontario Human Rights Code and Related Orders so that they can fully benefit from the TTC as a service provider and an employer.

Education and Experience:


  • Completion of postsecondary education in a relevant discipline (e.g. business administration, supply chain management, etc.), with relevant work and supervisory experience, or the equivalent of a combination of several years of work experience in production planning and scheduling in a major repair/overhaul environment, supervisory experience and related education.
