    Position Summary
    The Dr.

    John Archer Library and Archives invites applications from proactive and service-oriented candidates for the tenure-track position of Library Assessment Coordinator.

    As the successful candidate, you will be an innovative librarian whose vision of a library is a flexible, collaborative institution that is integral to the success and vibrancy of the University's students, faculty and staff.

    Reporting to the Associate Dean (Academic), you will work to lead the integration of regular assessment practices into the culture of the organization, fostering a shared vision toward assessment goals.

    You will work collaboratively with a team of librarians and library staff to provide a range of library services, including reference and instruction to the Department of Psychology, and the Faculty Kinesiology and Health Studies.

    John Archer Library and Archives is one of the most distinctive buildings on campus and features spectacular views of Wascana Lake and easy access to an extensive network of walking and bicycling trails.

    The Dr.

    John Archer Library and Archives supports the research and teaching of faculty and students at the University of Regina through its services, collections and information technology infrastructure.

    Reference and information services are both library-based and provided by librarians on-site in faculties, departments and research centres.

    Instruction in finding information is also provided, both in the form of general orientations and class or subject specific instruction sessions.

    Dr.

    John Archer's extensive collection of over 2 million items is listed in our Alma catalogue, as are the holdings of the University's three Federated Colleges:
    Campion College, Luther College, and First Nations University of Canada.

    The Library also comprises the University Archives with collections consisting of original materials relating to the University, its faculty, staff, and students, dating from the inception of Regina College in 1911 to the present day.

    oURspace is the digital repository for scholarly literature, research results, official communications, and materials which define the cultural context of the University of Regina and Saskatchewan.

    The Library is a partner with several external organizations, including CRKN (Canadian Research Knowledge Network), COPPUL (Council of Prairie and Pacific University Libraries), CARL (Canadian Association of Research Libraries), the Multitype Library Board, and the Consortium of Academic and Special Libraries of Saskatchewan (CASLS).

    About the position:

    Reporting to the Associate Dean (Academic), this position leads the integration of regular assessment practices into the culture of the organization, fostering a shared vision toward assessment goals.

    It will coordinate assessment data collection, analysis, and documentation; develop, promote and foster an evidence-based approach to achieving strategic objectives related to library operations and user needs; and coordinates projects and supports colleagues engaged in assessment work.

    The Library Assessment Coordinator will serve as Chair of the Library Impact Team, which provides support to the Office of the Dean, Dr.

    John Archer Library and Archives, in areas related to regular reporting, library-wide assessment, and communicating the impact of the Library.

    This position will also support the teaching and research needs in assigned areas, currently the Department of Psychology, and the Faculty Kinesiology and Health Studies.

    The nature and scope of responsibilities for this and other library positions are expected to change as the Library organization evolves.


    The Library Assessment Coordinator's duties include the following:


    • Plan, develop, and implement (under the direction of Library Executive and Library Leadership Team) library-wide assessment initiatives and strategies that enable continuous review, evaluation, and improvement of services.
    • Serve as Chair of the Library Impact Team (LIT).
    • Coordinate projects, mentor and support colleagues engaged in assessment work, fostering a culture of assessment and a shared vision toward assessment goals.
    • Identify key data to measure the impact of the library's collections, services, and facilities that will inform decision-making on how best to move forward to achieve the successful completion of University and Library strategic goals and student success initiatives.
    • Work collaboratively with others across campus responsible for assessment.
    • Provide reference and in-depth research consultations (including systematic reviews and other methods to conduct evidence synthesis) for undergraduate and graduate students, faculty and staff researchers, in person and virtually through email, online chat, video conference software, phone, etc.
    • Design, provide and assess subject-related information literacy instruction in all areas of assignment.
    • Work with User Services staff to develop reference and information literacy supports.
    • Support the teaching, learning, and research goals of students and faculty members in collaboration with library faculty and staff.
    • Advise on library collections in assigned subject areas in collaboration with the Collections and Assessment Team (CAT).
    • Provide library liaison services and research, currently in support of the Department of Psychology and the Faculty of Kinesiology and Health Studies; serve as primary point of contact between the Library and those faculties.
    • Participate in the development of library policy, procedures, and services as a member of Librarians' and Archivists' Council (LAC) and other committees, working groups and teams.
    • Participate in university-wide initiatives, committees and task forces.
    • Engage in continuing professional development, research/scholarship, and community service as outlined in the Performance Review Criteria for Librarians and Archivists (November 19, 2013).
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Position Requirements Required Qualifications:


    • Master's degree in Library and Information Science from an ALA accredited program or equivalent.
    • 3-5 years of professional experience in assessment work.
    • Demonstrated knowledge of processes and software tools for analyzing, drawing insight from, reporting, and/or visualizing data.
    • Demonstrated knowledge of current theories, trends, standards, and practices of assessment in academic libraries.
    • Demonstrated interpersonal, problem-solving, and oral and written communication skills.
    • A commitment to high ethical standards in data collection and analysis.
    • Experience articulating the value of academic libraries through quantitative and/or qualitative assessment methodologies.
    • Demonstrated experience compiling and reporting academic library statistics.
    • Evidence of competence in project management.
    • Demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusion.
    • Experience in providing training and instruction.
    • An understanding of the principles and current trends in scholarly communication.
    • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
    • Demonstrated flexibility, creativity, and ability to innovate and adapt to a continually evolving environment.
    • Commitment to scholarship, professional development and service.
    It would be an asset for the candidate to have:

    • Research experience or graduate degree in a related subject area.
    • Demonstrated knowledge of methods pertaining to evidence synthesis.
