    AltaGas - Manager, Commodity Position Management

    The Business Analytics & Position Management team is looking for a Manager, Commodity Position Management to join AltaGas as part of the Commercial Marketing group. This role is responsible for managing within AltaGas' Energy Trading & Risk Management (ETRM) system physical and financial trading positions along with evaluating various commodity positions in order to make recommendations to Senior Management that support business objectives.

    You will:

  • Accountable for accuracy of Allegro (our ETRM system) data across Trade Desks, including performance of underlying processes and tools/systems as well as translating and transforming that data for cross-disciplinary use
  • Lead position discrepancy resolution activities across all Trade Desks (NGL, LPG, Crude, & Natural Gas)
  • Lead support of daily risk reporting discrepancies and end-of-day (EOD) sign-off activities
  • Manage key relationships with functional leads including Commercial, Logistics, Risk, Accounting, and Digital
  • Lead a strong technical team of analysts, both on tactical ETRM / Allegro operations as well as strategic commercial and logistics capabilities
  • Drive continuous improvement, challenging the status quo, enhancing business processes and tools / systems to increase PM accuracy and efficiency
  • Liaise with internal and external groups on projects that optimize AltaGas assets and internal risk processes
  • Work with a high-performing team of marketers, analysts, operations personnel, and schedulers
  • Various ad hoc reporting and analysis, as required
  • Subject Matter Expert (SME) in position management specifically related to ETRM as well as the underlying standards and of business streams (Fractionation, Blending, NGLs – domestic and international markets, natural gas, crude and condensate)
  • Drive continuous improvement, challenging the status quo, enhancing deficient business processes and tools / systems to increase PM accuracy and efficiency

    • You have:

  • Relevant university degree in Commerce, Economics, Finance, or Engineering
  • +8 years of relevant experience in the energy industry with knowledge of Midstream business
  • Commercial background would be an asset (preferably within Midstream)
  • Working knowledge of NGLs, Crude, and NG North American & global markets, able to discern position implications of standard commercial communications
  • ETRM / CTRM/ Allegro or similar system experience
  • Working knowledge of logistics practices and scheduling, adjusting positions based on physical movements
  • Understanding financial commodity trading and implications
  • Versatile communication & advanced interpersonal skills, able to build relationships across disparate functions
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite and Power BI
  • Strong attention to detail, proven ability to prioritize, multi-task, and meet critical deadlines
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Superior oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Motivated individual able to contribute both individually and as a team player with multiple priorities and tasks in a fast-paced environment
