    About the Role

    We invite applications for a Tenure-Track, Assistant Professor position in the Bachelor of Child Studies, Child and Youth Care Counsellor, which will commence July 1st, 2024.

    The successful candidate for this position will possess strong knowledge and familiarity with Child and Youth Care Counselling including: anti-bias curriculum design, program development, and Indigenous ways of knowing. The candidate should be prepared to teach in one or more of the following areas:

  • Child and youth care professional practice competencies
  • Counselling, assessment and intervention skills
  • Trauma informed practice knowledge
  • Human rights, policy and research
  • Program design

    • Our ideal candidate will have a proven commitment to decolonization and equity, diversity, accessibility and inclusion practice including knowledge and experience of working with diverse communities.

  • We welcome applications from those who would contribute to the further diversification of our staff, faculty and their scholarship.
  • An existing record of academic publications directly related to Child and Youth Care Counselling practice is an asset.

    • New faculty are hired into one of two work patterns. The teaching/ scholarship/ service pattern (TSS) focuses on teaching with the requirement that the faculty member be involved in a research or scholarship program as well as service to the Mount Royal community. The teaching/ service pattern (TS) focuses on teaching and service only.

    A PhD in Child and Youth Care Counsellor, or a related discipline is preferred; a Master's degree is required. The successful applicant must have previous post-secondary or related teaching experience. Applicants must have a minimum of five years of experience working in Child and Youth Care. Candidates must be eligible for membership with the Child and Youth Care Association of Alberta.
