    You will be exposed to a diverse range of engineering challenges in a fast-paced collaborative environment. 3GA use the latest in technology and software to provide our clients with high value engineering products.

    You will be trained in an array of software, safety certifications and 3D laser scanning equipment to facilitate efficient and effective data collection whilst conducting vessel surveys.

    You will use the data and software to perform Naval Architecture functions within Basic, Functional and Detailed Design phases of projects.

    You will manage small and medium-sized projects and be required to interface with clients at shipyards and vessels across Canada.

    You will work under the guidance of our senior staff to learn, grow and produce exceptional engineering

    As an xperienced Naval Architect , you will bring your high degree of technical knowledge and innovative engineering experience to our Victoria office to provide turnkey solutions for various clients.

    You will be exposed to a diverse range of engineering challenges in a fast-paced collaborative environment. 3GA use the latest in technology and software to provide our clients with high value engineering products.

    You will be trained in an array of software, safety certifications and 3D laser scanning equipment to facilitate efficient and effective data collection whilst conducting vessel surveys.

    You will be primarily responsible for all aspects of engineering design for new design and vessel refits from concept through to implementation.

    Projects vary in complexity and size, from small equipment installations to whole vessel detail design.

    You will manage medium and large-sized projects, and be required to interface with clients at shipyards and vessels across Canada.

    You will be responsible for producing and reviewing of engineering deliverables. You will work under the guidance of our management team to lead the team in producing exceptional engineering work.


    Work directly with senior naval architects, engineers and project managers in the planning and execution of technical activities on a variety of complex projects related to new vessel design or vessel refit work.

    Manage small to medium sized projects, including junior and intermediate level staff.
    Work directly with clients and project stakeholders
    Work with senior level staff and other colleagues in all aspects of Naval Architecture.
    Perform design, documentation development, analysis and modeling tasks using appropriate software packages.
    Review vessel drawings and other technical documentation for Class and/or Transport Canada regulatory compliance
    Participate in the writing of technical specifications
    Participate in various stages of the construction process, as assigned.

    Undertake on-site vessel surveys (condition surveys, lightship surveys, inclining experiments, etc) including vertical ladder ascent and descent, accessing confined spaces and working at heights.

    Training will be provided by 3GA.

    Work directly with stakeholders and project managers in the planning and execution of technical activities on a variety of complex projects related to vessel (ship) and technical product development.

    Oversee intermediate and junior level staff in all aspects of Naval Architecture.
    Oversee projects as a project manager on a variety of projects, new vessel design to refits.
    Prepare project plans and work specifications for each individual vessel.
    Perform design, documentation, analysis and modeling tasks using appropriate software packages.
    Review design documents to achieve customer, Classification Society and regulatory approval.
    Oversees various stages of the construction process, as assigned.

    Ability to undertake onsite vessel surveys (condition surveys, lightship surveys, inclining experiments) including vertical ladder ascent and descent, accessing confined spaces and heights.

    Degree in Naval Architecture or engineering.
    ~· 5+ years in a design office or shipyard with engineering experience in refit/new vessel projects.
    ~· Familiarity with BC marketplace for shipyards, ship operators and or ferry operators an asset.
    ~· Experience with hydrostatics and resistance/propulsion calculations using software packages such as GHS, ORCA 3D, SHCP, or NavCad, is highly desirable.
    ~· Experience with 3D design software such as Rhino 3D, ShipConstructor, or Solidworks is an asset.
    ~· Experience with finite element analysis and software packages such as ANSYS or Solidworks is an asset.
    ~· Registered or are eligible to register as Professional Engineer with the appropriate provincial engineering body.

    • 8-10 years in a design office / shipyard with project management skills experience in refit/new vessel projects.
    • Experience with Project Management is highly desirable.
