The expected pay range for this position is dependent on rank:

Assistant Professor of Teaching: $100,000 - $130,000/year
Associate Professor of Teaching: $130,000-$160,000/year
Professor of Teaching: $160,000 - $190,000/year

The Faculty of Forestry at the University of British Columbia (Vancouver Campus) invites applications for up to two tenure-track faculty positions at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor of Teaching (tenure-track) rank. The UBC Faculty of Forestry is excited to launch a new program starting in September 2024, which is a four-year undergraduate program focused on preparing students to build and manage comprehensive land stewardship systems rooted in Indigenous earth-based land ethics.

UBC's Vancouver campus is situated on the traditional territories of the Coast Salish Peoples. As part of reconciliation efforts, the Faculty of Forestry is dedicated to meaningful action. The successful applicant will play a crucial role in the Bachelor of Indigenous Land Stewardship program.

Required Qualifications:

Candidates must hold a PhD in Ecology, Natural Resource Management, Forestry, Economics, Business Management, Indigenous Governance, or a related field. Candidates should demonstrate excellence in research, teaching, and learning, with a focus on culturally appropriate teaching methods. Leadership in Indigenous education and a commitment to equity and inclusion are essential.

Position Duties:

The successful candidate(s) will teach undergraduate courses in the Bachelor of Indigenous Land Stewardship program, engage in educational leadership activities, mentor students, and contribute to program initiatives to enhance student experience. Promotion and tenure are based on teaching, service, and educational leadership.
