    The Department of Clinical Neurosciences in the Cumming School of Medicine invites applications for a Beiomedical Engineer Technician. This Full-time Fixed Term position is for approximately 1 year (based on length of grant funding), with the possibility of extension.

    The Biomedical Engineering Technician reports to the Associate Director and Director of the RESTORE Network.

    The position deals with the research and development of software applications for medical devices and computer programs. Tasks performed require initiative, close attention to details and consistent follow-up. The incumbent is responsible for keeping and up to date on commercialization initiatives, project management tasks, and team activities related to the successful deployment of software applications. They are responsible for ensuring day to day work is completed.

    The normal hours of work are from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Overtime may be required on occasion.

    Summary of Key Responsibilities (job functions include but are not limited to):

    • Independently performs tests on software applications to ensure successful deployment
    • Continually updates and manages databases generated by software applications
    • Recommends changes to methods, procedures, and practices
    • Manages use of software applications by providing user access, maintaining use logs, and advertising to potential user groups
    • Creates and recommends standard operating procedures for group
    • Coordinates external testing with user groups
    • Produce reports of software application research and development tasks performed
    • Deliver effective communication and presentation skills reporting to the academic supervisor and external collaborators
    • Maintain software application databases and logs
    • Perform a variety of business development tasks specific to the research and development of a software application for managing health
    • Organize testing and external user access of software applications

    Qualifications / Requirements:

    • 3-5 years of related work experience
    • Bachelor's Degree in Biomedical Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent
    • Minimum of 3 years of research and development experience
    • Experience working with software applications, especially health applications is desired.
    • Experience working in diverse teams considered an asset
    • Must be open to learning and development, and be willing to accept new challenges and assignments
    • A positive attitude and the ability to work independently and as part of a team are critical to success
    • Demonstrated leadership, communication, organization, problem solving, and interpersonal skills
    • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint), Internet skills
    • Knowledge of University core business systems is desirable
