    Job Title: Director of Business and Operations

    About MJDS:

    Montessori Jewish Day School (MJDS) is proud to be the only CCMA-accredited Jewish Montessori school in Canada. Established over 20 years ago, MJDS serves over 130 students, ranging from 18 months to Grade 8. Our Montessori approach is an evidence-based pedagogy recognized for fostering an environment where students excel academically, socially, and personally.     Position Overview:

    We are seeking an experienced and dedicated individual to join our team as the Director of Business and Operations. This role is pivotal in strategically managing and efficiently operating our school's business functions. The Director will oversee financial planning, budgeting, accounting, human resources, facilities management, and administrative operations to ensure the smooth functioning of the organization.

    Key Responsibilities:

    ● Strategic Financial Management:
    ● Implement strategic plans to optimize the school's financial performance and operational efficiency.
    ● Oversee budget development, financial reporting, and forecasting processes to support informed decision-making by the leadership team.
    ● Manage tuition setting and subsidy processes.
    ● Financial Operations:
    ● Oversee all aspects of financial operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and procurement.
    ● Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and accounting standards.
    ● Human Resources Management:
    ● Manage HR functions, including recruitment, onboarding, maintaining staff files, first aid, police checks, offense declarations, and the staff handbook.
    ● Collaboration and Supervision:
    ● Collaborate with department heads to develop and monitor departmental budgets and resource allocations.
    ● Supervise facilities management, including maintenance, security, and capital improvement projects.
    ● Administrative Efficiency:
    ● Streamline administrative processes and procedures to enhance productivity and effectiveness.
    ● Serve as a liaison with external stakeholders, including vendors, contractors, regulatory agencies, and community partners.
    ● Compliance and Grants:
    ● Ensure compliance with CCYEA requirements by uploading required documents, updating policies, and preparing for inspections.
    ● Manage grant applications and reporting, including PWE and training grants.
    ● Safety and IT Management:
    ● Oversee lockdown procedures and health & safety protocols.
    ● Manage IT resources and infrastructure.

    Qualifications:
    ● Proven experience in business operations management in a nonprofit or educational setting.
    ● Experience with budgeting, financial analysis, and reporting.
    ● Excellent leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills.
    ● Ability to think strategically, problem-solve, and make sound decisions.
    ● Knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and best practices in finance, human resources, and facilities management.
    ● Proficiency in Excel and other financial software.
    ● Task-oriented and highly organized.
