    Mechanical Tooling Technologist

    CANDU Energy Inc., an AtkinsRéalis company and the Canadian Commercial Corporation ("CCC"), a federal Crown corporation, have signed a contract with Nuclearelectrica S.A. (SNN) to provide engineering, technology and procurement of tooling and reactor components in support of the life extension of SNN's Unit 1 CANDU reactor at the Cernavoda Nuclear Power Plant in Romania. As the exclusive licensee of the Canadian-owned CANDU intellectual property portfolio and contributing its unique expertise to all aspects of CANDU technology, AtkinsRéalis is the only organization that has taken a leading role in all CANDU reactor life extension projects to date globally, including those successfully executed or underway in Asia, North America, and South America.

    This expression of interest offers you a chance to be a part of our team and work alongside our experts in our Canadian and international offices as well as at client sites.

    Based on our current needs, opportunities are expected to be available starting immediately; positions are full time Technician/Technologist status at intermediate-senior levels.

    Your role within the team:
    At this time, this solicitation is for the following position, which may be changed to meet project requirements.

    Responsibilities (include, but not limited to):

  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with company procedures and policies.
  • Assembly, repairing and maintaining of nuclear inspection and mock-up equipment.
  • Participate in equipment testing programs.
  • Prepare route sheets and edit documents.
  • Complete prioritized work requests on time.
  • Become a nuclear energy worker (NEW).
  • Be willing to travel to vendor and project sites if required.
  • Maintenance of contaminated nuclear tooling and refurbishment activities.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, efficient and effective communication (written and oral) and organization skills are essential.
  • Must be "Team" Oriented with a demonstrated ability to work well with others and promote a positive work environment.

    • The ideal candidate:

  • Diploma of Collegial studies in mechanical technology or relevant technical experience.
  • Working experience between 7 and 9 years in mechanical assembly / testing / repair of nuclear inspection tooling and shop equipment.
  • Analytical problem-solving skills.
  • Microsoft Word / Excel / Teams / Visio / SolidWorks
  • Familiarity with nuclear standards an asset
  • Exhibit excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrate manual skills and dexterity.
  • Knowledge of established engineering design principles and methods.
  • Acts with initiative and independence under limited direction.
  • Have a working knowledge of industrial shop practices.
  • Forklift and overhead crane experience an asset.
  • Experience with pneumatics and hydraulics, Swagelok training an asset.
  • Provides recommendations and decisions of sufficient value to have significant impact on the outcome of the entire project or group.
  • Provides technical leadership and input to performance reviews.
  • Demonstrate specialized knowledge and good general understanding of other fields.
  • Able to contribute sound judgement, possesses a keen sense of responsibility, and is reliable within carrying out duties.
  • Competent in leadership situations and delegating tasks
  • Coordinate other technicians on project deliverables.
  • Coordinate manufacturing and RP work when needed.

    • Security Clearance is a requirement for employment. (CANDU & Customer site: OPG/Bruce Power)
