AN WS MY TRIP THROUGH THE NINTH GATE OF HELL. I have been using Adobe InDesign for a number of years. This morning | contacted the company to cancel my subscription, which | thought | had done a couple of weeks ago, but received no confirmation. So today, | ventured forth to see if | could actually figure out if | had actually cancelled my subscription. This was a real eye-opener. Adobe's customer interface is completely automated and extremely frustrating. It turned what used to be a simple three or four-stroke conversation, with human beings on either end, into a 45-minute ordeal with two different bots. They came very close to actually refusing to cancel my subscription, insisting they would give me another three months of free service. Which meant nothing to me because | was cancelling and no longer used the freakin’ program. Finally, 45 minutes of texting later, they cancelled my subscription. The only reason | am writing this is that people need to be aware that, as the Al bullshit train plows along, we can all look forward to less and less actual human contact, and more and more human frustration. I know a lot of businesses operate this way. But | have to say that the PR value of this is way off in the negative space.
