AMERICA IS NUTS:

A lot of people ask me why I write about America so much and Canada not so much. The answer to that question is simple.

Since 2016, America has turned into a full blown three-ring circus. The right wing of that country's political system is making repeated attempts to turn what was once called American Democracy on its ear for no better reason that hate

Hate for women, hate for minorities, hate for progressive liberal minded people, hate for the LGTQ community. Hate for everyone who doesn't believe that America belongs to the exalted white race.

Even the right wing politicians are completely unafraid to make total fools of themselves by spouting the most hate filled bullshit.

The country has turned into an amazing freak show. And at the same time, the majority of people elected a government that actually gives a damn about real Americans and is working its tail off to get their programs in place. But all they run into is partisan resistance.

A bunch of states, with Texas and Oklahoma being the worst, have actually gone back a couple of centuries with their reckless disregard for women's rights.

Looking at all this as an outsider, and a regular observer, my sympathy for the true Americans has grown exponentially. These are the ones who want everyone to succeed. The ones that want the government they elected to keep on doing its job of making things better for everyone. The ones that want America to be a positive force for change in the world.

The rest, the big fat lunatic fringe, sadly don't know what they want. I listen carefully and all I hear is the whooshing of hot air, punctuated by anger and hate and racist tropes and all manner of half truths and outright lies that they have been brainwashed to believe are true by their sociopathic and morally bankrupt role models.

Yes America is nuts. But fortunately for the country, it's not the majority. America is this way because the right wing ideology which used to be honorable conservatism has been dragged into the mud puddle that leads to fascism. And they are basically too filled with second hand hate to realize where that road leads.
