2 SPUDS (NETFLIX)

INTERWEB BLURB: The General's Daughter is a
1999 American mystery thriller film directed by
Simon West and starring John Travolta. The plot
concerns the mysterious death of the daughter
of a prominent Army general. The film is based
on the 1992 novel by the same name by Nelson
DeMille.

MY BLURB: If nothing else, John Travolta, over
the years, has shown himself to be anything but
the one trick pony that a lot big ‘movie’ stars
tend become.

In this film he plays a military investigator
who was running a sting operation to break up
an illegal weapons selling scheme, and ends up
investigating the murder of the daughtwer of
the General of the Base, (James Cromwell).

This is a very interesting film because it really
examines what the military will do to protect
itself and its institutions, and how duty, regard-
less of the circumstances always comes first.

Mr Travolta, as usual, is bang on as the relent-
less investigator who uncovers way more than
just a murder, and has to walk a very fine line in
order to see justice get done.

This is a move that moves slowly in some parts
and quite brutallt fast in others. But the tension
that is created is omnipresent.

1 saw this movie a long time ago because it
came out in 1999. | remembered pitifully little
about it, so it was really just like watching for
the first time.
