The Aberration At The Top

This is a rant. It’s not sugar-coated or politically correct. But the essence of it is simple…it’s me being pissed off and fed up with all the bullshit floating around out there and magnifying a tiny speck of it as I am wont to do every so often.

So if this is something that you think might upset your precious sensibilities or political leaning, well have a nice day, ‘cause this isn’t for you.

Every day, and in a weird way you have to admire the energy involved in doing this, but every day the current US President manages to come up with some weird shit that makes all the intelligent people in the US scratch their heads and makes the idiots cheer.

In just two short years, (although it seems an eternity), he has managed to almost completely turn the country into two distinct groups. Those who support him and couldn’t, if their lives depended on it, explain why. And those who see this for what it actually is which is a massive con game played on an international scale.

It’s impossible for his supporters to look at this presidency and see any real achievement either domestically or on the international level. But they don’t seem to care. In fact, the stupider Trumps actions are, the more galvanized they seem to become.

He boasts that the economy is doing great, but economists almost universally agree that this was the direction it was headed anyway as a result of the work of the Obama administration, that took over with the economy in recession and quite literally circling the drain.

He is lobbying hard for a wall between the US and Mexico, which is something that will take at least 10-15 years to build. In the meantime,he has created no plan whatsoever to deal with the influx of asylum seekers fleeing tyranny in their Central American home countries, some of which the US was responsible for creating in the first place.

He boasts about how the world now has a new respect for the US because of him. But the reality is that the world, almost to a nation, considers this presidency to be a complete aberration, one which has caused them to seriously lose faith and trust in the US.

He has hired and fired some of the better minds in the country and ended up surrounding himself with people who are pretty much as crazy, egotistical and unqualified as he is. All I need to say there is Ben Carson & Betsy DeVos.

He has blackmailed the Republican party, by convincing them that they will lose their support bases if they should take a position contrary to his on just about anything. And these pussies just fell in line, because fear is the mind killer.

In the meantime, the greedier Republicans like Mitch McConnell, are basically getting richer all the time off Russian money and the pork barrel that they control.

He has promised over and over again to improve the infrastructure of the country, which, from all reports, is crumbling, and dismantle the Affordable Care Act and replace it with something ’much better’. Neither of these things have happened, nor will they, I fear.

He has been bought off by the fossil fuel, coal and natural gas lobbies and undone many of the regulations that were keeping the country relatively safe. The effects of this are yet to be seen, but it’s inevitable that with poisoned water tables and air, cancers of all kinds are not far behind.

I could literally go on for miles, including how he has added to his personal wealth and that of his family members.

But the essence of all of this is that the has created an epic fail of this presidency. But he has done it in such a way that has allowed him to essentially build a base of mindless idiots who believe everything he says, and even if they don’t, see him as someone who expresses publicly the fears that they harbor internally…all the main phobias, Islamaphobia, homophobia, misogyny and racism.

It doesn’t seem to matter to these people that his policies, if you could call them that, have impacted severely on many of the industries they were supposed to protect and have only provided huge tax breaks for the people who need them the least.

His trade war with China has affected countless businesses with whom China will no longer do business. It has seriously impacted the manufacturing sector and the agricultural sector, and driven up prices accordingly.

Yet in the same breath, he brags about how unemployment is at record lows in the country. What he fails to mention is the on the other side of that argument, millions of families in America are not making enough money, from all this record employment, to make ends meet.

In short, he has made an incredible mess of the country, the US economy, the US' leadership position in the world, and the general perception of the US as a place where anything is possible.

Fortunately the US has a certain resilience, but even that is being strained to the limit.

What this president fails to realize, in all his arrogance and self-centeredness, is that the world is a much smaller place, and cooperation and trust between nations is an absolute necessity if some of the bigger problems we face are going be dealt with successfully.

At the moment, the US is about as far removed from being part of the world community and it has ever been. And if they are going to get back their prestige and respect, many things will have to change, starting with the aberration at the top.

I agree Jerry Fletcher. It's a circusBut I think that all those people would make a hell of a cabinet. I like Elizabeth Warren and Kamala Harris. I love Mayor Pete, but I think your country is too homophobic to ever elect a gay president...we had a lesbian premier in Ontario, but the has been replaced by a bloated pig.

I don't think sides matter as much as figuring out the best way to make progress as a country. I believe the Republicans have become all pork barrel all the time. And and the money they're getting is to specifically do nothing. The irony is that doing nothing is only going to slow the world down from what it's real mission should be, to unify somehow to ensure our total survival as a species. At least with the Democrats I see some willingness to try and figure that out.

Jim, In a phone call yesterday, my most avid political friends lamented over agent Orange's latest stupidities while I suggested that the Democrats had their heads in rectal defilade if they thought fielding two dozen candidates with no common cause was a good idea. I suggested that from a marketing perspective they needed to build one platform that could be debated by no more than 3 or 4 candidates if there was any hope of removing the narcissist from office. They suggested that I look at Kamala Harris as a possible candidate. The Senator is the former Attorney General of California and comes from a mixed ancestry that that most folks would not begin to guess. Perhaps, like Obama she can find a way to bu9ild a quorum. And so it goes.

Jim, you and i are on quite different perspectives on the issues but i believe if we turned around we would be standing side by side. Prior to the Obama presidency we all played political basketball, the left scoring and the right scoring keeping folks pretty much uninterested in a game that has gone on forever. Post Obama the game and stakes have changed. We are now playing soccer. No one is scoring any real goals and the fans are pent up with apprehension and needing a score. Your rant identifies many issues all citizens recognize but the disagreement is in the fix. Unfortunately, as you point out, both political sides are willing to bet the fans in scoring first. The macabre examples of future outcomes that never appear in everyday life along with the total emotional reasoning with facts has served only to wake a us and them mentality. Your and my rants from opposite sides of the field only serve to entrench those around us in emotional reasoning. We both know that this will only end with one or the other sides scoring first. The field will flood with all the bitter fans and many politicians will walk away smiling with their millions they lined up for themselves. History in old and current (Venezuela) bares this impending train wreck out.

This is a universal, wide open and general statement: If the shoe fits…….. “For all Men see the empty sham Pretence." “The Dyet of Poland” Daniel Defoe https://quod.lib.umich.edu/e/ecco/004784457.0001.000/1:3?rgn=div1;view=fulltext

Hypocrisy runs deep on the two lane highway of life. One leader after another, liberal or conservative serve as the bully pulpit for caustic unproductive rhetoric. In your case it obviously is Trump. What about Justin? What about _______(fill in the blank). The list is not shallow. It is reflective of a rather a deep running stream of unproductive shit slingers. A playing field rife with example after example. I heard a statement yesterday that just kind of struck home: Truth, its not truth--its marketing. Kind of like "the truth isnt the truth." Intellectual moronocism is not a commodity held by one individual, one group or another, it is rampant. bigotry deceit deception dishonesty duplicity fraud insincerity mockery affectation cant casuistry display dissembling dissimulation double-dealing falsity glibness imposture irreverence lie pietism quackery sanctimoniousness sanctimony speciousness unctuousness bad faith false profession lip service pharisaicalness pharisaism phoniness

It really does say a lot about how easy it is to manipulate millions of people into thinking whatever you want them to think. Trouble is there are a lot of people who sincerely believe that Trump represents exactly what they believe, which actually already makes the US no better than a dictator controlled banana republic. Hitler would be having wet dreams every night over the power of the Internet to control opinion.

I think there is a lot of momentum building in favour of going back to sane leadership in that country. They have a lot of ground to make up. He has alienated almost everyone worth alienating. PS thanks for the kind words on Franci\ud83d\udc1dEugenia Hoffman, beBee Brand Ambassador's post.
