The One Line Blog

Relational
Between 2003 and 2004 I wrote the "Mark Zorro" blog at Blogger, a site founded by Ev Williams.  At the time it seemed like a natural idea - just write a line instead of a complete blog, but it was not an idea that caught on at that time.  Instead, I found some people including my "Mark Zorro" blog in their profile of "worst blogs".  It did not matter much to me what these people thought, the idea of writing one liners felt right for me and that is what mattered.

By May 2004 I had abandoned this blog after just 2 years.  Ev Williams himself ironically partnered up with a couple of other people and created a site based on short-messaging from the phone that was based on 140 characters - originally they called it Twttr and eventually went on to be called Twitter.  It was Jack Dorsey who had been experimenting with SMS.

I wish had kept records of the blogs that hated my one-liner effort, I could have got back there and that even Ev Williams chose a kickstart a company that prefers one-liners to blogs, so there is a great feeling of pride that I had stumbled upon an early version of tweeting and I had absolutely no idea that by marrying this short- messaging with a mobile phone, that an incredible phenomena could be born which has laid claim to the breaking of major world news.

So what is the value of an opinion when the real value is exploration.  As I utilized "Mark Zorro" in other spaces this expression eventually formed an expression point on Twitter as the place I gathered my thoughts about leadership, management and strategy.

So it is now with Blue Intelligence that thoughts about leadership and management now will morph into the development of my thinking on the lines of the relational, which is actually strong area for me in terms of human capability and also the employee experience.  So I look forward to exploring one of my strengths and that is not mentioning those who advocate on focusing on strengths.  I am not focused on development of strengths but upon the exploration of intelligence.  That said I like programs like Clifton Strength Finder :

Dear Augosto, In the tv series Brain Games there was a great example of this with a challenge to say fifty words in 20 seconds that do not contain the letter A. The people who tried could only come up with 7 words but there was a way of saying fifty words in 20 seconds that was absolutely simple. Guess what it was? This showed me that simplicity is simple when we know it, but otherwise if we search for an answer to the unfamiliar, we don't see the answer. When we get told how simple this really is, we never forget :-)
