Position Summary

The Admissions Officer plays a vital role in providing information and services related to admissions, registration, and records at VCC. This position involves making decisions on admission policies and procedures, communicating requirements, and assisting applicants throughout the process.

Duties & Responsibilities

Organize and provide guidance on program availability, admission requirements, registration, fees, and more to prospective and current students.
Evaluate applications, authenticate transcripts, and communicate with applicants regarding admission decisions.
Process course registrations, drops, and withdrawals, and maintain wait-lists.
Refer students for counseling and skills assessments.
Utilize Banner Student Information system and other tools for document management.
Produce transcripts and letters of attendance.
Make recommendations for process improvements and business proposals.
Perform general correspondence and work with MS Word and Excel.
Other related duties as required.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

Completion of a 2-year post-secondary diploma and three years of relevant experience in a post-secondary institution.

Skills and Abilities

Proficiency in Student Information Systems, Word, and Excel.
Strong customer service and communication skills.
Ability to make independent decisions, solve problems, and work in a team environment.
Expertise in evaluating educational documents, admissions processes, and College policies.
Accurate alphanumeric data entry and keyboarding speed of 40 wpm.
