    Manager, Financial Reporting - Toronto, ON, Canada - Canada Infrastructure Bank

    Description

    Headquartered in Toronto, the Canada Infrastructure Bank (CIB) is responsible for investing in new infrastructure projects. The CIB's mission is to work with provincial, territorial, municipal, federal, Indigenous and private sector investor partners to transform the way infrastructure is planned, financed and delivered in Canada.

    The Manager, Financial Reporting (12-month contract with a possibility of extension), reports to the Head, Finance & Asset Management, and leads the preparation and analysis of the CIB's quarterly and annual financial reporting in accordance with Public Sector Accounting guidelines, the Financial Administration Act, CIB policies and all applicable legislative and regulatory requirements. The successful candidate will also assist with the day-to-day management of the CIB's financial operations including the build-out and maintenance of the financial policies, processes and systems.

    Your responsibilities include:

    • Manage the annual and quarterly financial statement reporting processes
    • Manage PSAS reporting to public and shareholder
    • Manage preparation of Access to Information Requests and Order Paper Requests

    Deal Position Papers and Accounting

    • Complete position papers on each deal including deal structure, terms and key conditions tied back to the supporting agreement and assess accounting impact including classification, valuation, control etc.
    • Maintain effective interest rate calculations including transaction costs

    External and Internal Audit

    • Manage external audit with the Office of the Auditor General and external auditors
    • Manage internal audit on financial and system processes

    Board Reporting

    • Contribute to the Finance and Audit committee reporting, including:
      • Accounting Matters: Supplementary decks discussing accounting policies
      • Financial Results review
      • Operations Overview: Update on various corporate initiatives from each department

    Corporate Operations

    Procurement

    • Manage the contract management database and processes
    • Lead contract reporting processes including spend analysis
    • Monitor contract expiry dates

    Accounts Payable and Receivable Processes

    • Manage approval process with department heads and Senior Finance Management
    • Ensure completeness of payments processed
    • Manage monthly and quarterly reconciliations including bank, payroll, etc.

    Policy & Procedures

    • Manage the Travel and Hospitality policy
    • Provide ongoing monitoring of the Procurement policy

    Initiatives

    • Manage the deployment and adoption of the expense reimbursement system that integrates with ERP and CRM
    • Manage the deployment and adoption of a procurement database that integrates with the ERP and CRM in conjunction with the Legal department

    Your ideal profile

    • University degree, ideally in business/commerce; MBA or relevant advanced degree preferred
    • Possession of or working towards a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) certification
    • 7+ years of progressive experience in financial reporting and operations, with a proven track record of leadership
    • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
    • Proficiency in financial software and tools and advanced spreadsheet applications
    • Knowledge of relevant financial regulations and compliance requirements
    • Effective communication, presentation and interpersonal skills
    • Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines
    • Strong communicator with excellent written and oral communication skills, capable of managing multiple stakeholders
    • Demonstrated creativity structuring solutions
    • Demonstrated ability to consolidate a large amount of information into clear and concise messages
    • Demonstrated knowledge of key finance issues (e.g., accounting, treasury, tax, capital)
    • Demonstrated ability to manage complexity, including multiple projects, and meet challenging timelines
    • Ability to work collaboratively in teams/groups and to build effective, trusting. relationships across the CIB at all levels and with external clients/partners
    • Ability to identify, assess and prioritize risk
    • Bilingual French and English (written and oral) is an asset
