    What you'll be doing


    The Director, Workforce Experience (WE) and Employee Relations Projects, is accountable for leading a team of specialized consultants dedicated to promoting positive workplace practices across the enterprise.

    Using data employee/ workforce and business metrics and information, you will lead a team of consultants who will review and/or visit identified workplaces, meet with employees and leaders, document key findings and assist leaders to develop appropriate action plans.

    You will provide ER consultation support on enterprise and line of business specific projects consistent with the Change Initiative Risk Assessment Process (CIRAP) and will play a key role in identifying and assessing inherent risks and mitigation plans associated with CIBC's business projects.

    You will also support team specific initiatives for the broader GELRP&P team, such as records management oversight and supporting/leading internal team audits.


    Additionally, you will be accountable for setting the operational strategies for the function, including ensuring appropriate workflow, case tracking systems, processes and data management controls are in place.

    You will also be responsible for ensuring that we develop and maintain proactive programs and agile service offerings to ensure the experience of our workforce is reflective of our culture and Purpose, ensure the team has requisite resources for success and that all activity is tracked appropriately.

    In order to manage risk and balance employee interests, this role will work in close partnership with the rest of the GELR, P&P team, all lines of business across the enterprise, particularly where WE visits are conducted, as well as HR, Privacy, Internal Audit, Business Controls, Legal, Governance, Risk and Compliance, as well as with other key internal partners.

    You'll have the flexibility to manage your work activities within a hybrid work arrangement where you'll spend 1-3 days per week on-site, while other days will be remote.

    How you'll succeed


    Operational Oversight - Responsible for leading a team dedicated to enhancing employee and client experience across the enterprise, while leveraging best practices, tools and technology.

    Oversee and support all aligned ER WE processes/job aids in accordance with all applicable policy/legislative requirements. Identify, gather and analyze employee/workforce and business data/metrics and information. Provide recommendations concerning leadership and human resources issues.

    Work proactively with other GELR, P&P team members and HR Business Partners to support appropriate actions to promote a positive work environment across the enterprise.


    People Management - Build team and individual capabilities by providing development opportunities such as job shadowing, special projects, and training.

    Manage performance by providing timely, fair and accurate formal and informal feedback, identifying and removing obstacles to performance and by explaining how performance expectations align with business priorities.

    Ensure compliance with policies, standards, guidelines and controls by applying the policies and controls fairly and consistently so employees understand what is expected of them.

    Analysis - Responsible for WE reporting, metrics and analysis, executive briefings and tracking team activities and action planning.

    Identify concerns/systemic issues arising from reviews/visits – escalating as appropriate; assess of risk associated with decisions made and the potential impact on CIBC.

    Compliance - Comply with all applicable CIBC and GELR, P&P policies, standards, guidelines and controls.

    Reinforce appropriate application of HR policies standards procedures and best practices and ensure all employees within GELR, P&P with all applicable policies, standards, guidelines and controls.

    You have a degree/diploma in a related university degree or equivalent work experience required. Employment law designation or background and/or CHRP designation are assets.

    You have working knowledge of CIBC HR systems and the GELRP&P case database tool.

    You can demonstrate previous experience in financial services work environments. It is an asset if you have understanding of financial services businesses.

    You can demonstrate good general knowledge of CIBC lines of business.

    It is an asset if you have exposure to project management.

    It is an asset if you are fluent in French.
