    Human Resources Coordinator - Vancouver, Canada - Vancouver Aquarium

    Description

    SUMMARY:

    The position entails assisting critical HR functions and programs such as recruitment, employee relations, benefits administration, and performance management with the aim is to enhance the efficiency of HR services, thereby contributing to overall organizational effectiveness.

    ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Maintains HR records by keeping accurate, up to date employee files including contracts, performance reviews and benefits forms.
  • Maintains the human resources information system (HRIS).
  • Tracks expiration dates for work contracts and permits and follows up on renewals to ensure compliance with relevant laws.
  • Assists the HR team by scheduling meetings, training sessions, interviews, and reference checks.
  • Assists the HR Manager in creating new HR policies and in collecting data for HR dashboards.
  • Provides recruitment support for managers and supervisors by assisting in creating job postings, interview questions, reference checks forms and job offers.
  • Supports employees on HR matters while ensuring strict confidentiality when handling sensitive issues.
  • Ensures the employee handbook is kept up to date by making revisions as new policies and procedures come into effect.
  • Creates new hire employee letters, packages, and assists in the onboarding process.
  • Supports performance management process, including follow ups and spot checks for goal setting, performance reviews, and performance improvement plans.
  • Stays informed about changes in employment laws and regulations and assists in ensuring compliance.
  • Ensures periodic updates to the intranet site.
  • Conducts exit interviews and ensures all offboarding formalities are completed timely.
  • Undertakes special assignments or projects as assigned by Director, Human Resources.
  • REQUIREMENTS:

  • Degree or diploma in Human Resources Management.
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in HR.
  • Experience developing and delivering human resources initiatives.
  • Knowledge of human resources (recruitment and retention, compensation, performance management & employee relations) principles, policies, and practices.
  • Knowledge of BC Employment Standards & Human Rights Code.
  • Experience developing Job Descriptions, HR policies and organizing training and orientation sessions.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word and intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • Superior oral and written communication
  • PROVISOS:

  • Occasional weekend availability is necessary to ensure comprehensive HR support for our operation, which runs seven days a week.
  • SALARY RANGE: $22 to $32 per hour
