    What You'll Do:
    The ESG Coordinator will assist in the development and implementation of Northland Power's Sustainability initiatives globally. You will be a part of Northland's ESG team which supports global strategies, communications, tools and disclosure on climate change, sustainable supply chain, human rights, and philanthropy. Reporting to the Manager, Global ESG Strategy & Reporting, the role will liaise with a variety of functions across the business. You will have the opportunity to learn, inspire those around you and create a positive impact with your work.

    Key Responsibilities

    Sustainability Strategy:

    • Collaborate with cross-functional departments to advance initiatives aimed at reducing energy greenhouse gas emissions (GHG).
    • Research GHG emission reduction opportunities and technologies to support Northland's climate strategy and Net-zero target in the short-, medium-, and long-term.
    • Generate concise reports for investors summarizing key ESG activities.
    • Conduct peer benchmarking and trends analysis to inform ESG strategies.
    • Coordinate global employee engagement programs to promote sustainability.
    • Partner with Procurement team to monitor and improve supplier performance on Ecovadis platform.
    • Map Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) against organizational strategy.

    ESG Reporting:

    • Support in the development of Sustainability Reports and ESG Performance Data, (proficiency in GRI and SASB frameworks considered an asset).
    • Assist in responding to external questionnaires (CDP, S&P CSA, UNGC COP).
    • Stay up to date with upcoming regulations related to sustainability and ensure compliance.
    • Create internal reporting guidelines for annual disclosures.
    • Conduct quarterly data collection and follow-ups to ensure accuracy and completeness.

    Administrative:

    • Document meeting minutes and support preparation of presentation decks for Community Investment Committee (CIC) and ESG Steering Committee meetings.
    • Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
    • Assist with various administrative tasks to support other members of the ESG team.

    Who You Are:

    • A self-starter: You have a desire to succeed in a fast-paced, changing environment. You have proven ability to take initiative, organize, and manage a high volume of tasks or projects simultaneously while prioritizing appropriately.
    • Proactive: you aren't afraid to offer suggestions and make improvements to processes.
    • A strong communicator: you have a clear and effective communication style and the ability to tailor your message to different audiences.
    • Diligent: You have solid attention to detail, and you follow up with others where needed to ensure outstanding information or projects are complete within the established deadlines.

    Qualifications and Experience

    • Bachelor's degree required in sustainability, environmental studies or science, engineering, business, or related field. Master's degree considered an asset.
    • Some experience in a corporate working on organization-wide sustainability initiatives, in a large, complex, national, or multinational organization would be considered an asset.
    • Strong research, analytical skills, and attention to detail with the ability to review and summarize large amounts of complex information.
