    Reporting to the VP of Founder Success, this role leads our national HardTech Investment network. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of investment strategies, particularly within the deeptech and hardtech sectors.

    As the director, they will be responsible for driving the network's strategic direction, building and maintaining relationships within the Canadian deep tech ecosystem, and overseeing the members' engagement and investment processes.

    They will also be responsible for a diverse set of responsibilities aimed at fostering innovation, supporting startups, and facilitating investment opportunities.

    The HardTech Investor Network Director will:

    Develop and execute strategic plans to advance the objectives of the HardTech investment network, including expanding its reach (leads and investors) nationally and internationally.

    This will involve developing strategies to attract new members, engaging with potential leads, and expanding the network's membership base nationally and internationally.

    Lead the operations to secure capital for investment activities and develop opportunities to sustain network operations and generate revenue.

    Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, including startups, investors, academia, government agencies, and industry partners.
    Oversee the investment process, from deal sourcing to due diligence and negotiation.
    Represent the network at industry events, conferences, and meetings.
    Drive membership recruitment and lead generation initiatives to grow the network's reach and impact.

    Serve the advisory board and participate in the selection and membership committees providing strategic guidance and insights to ensure that the network operates effectively and achieves its objectives.

    Organize and co-lead the events hosted (like investor member days and AGM) or run by the network.

    3-5 years of experience in venture capital or investment management, with a proven track record of successfully leading investment networks or similar organizations.

    ~ Deep understanding of deeptech and hardtech sectors, with demonstrated experience in identifying and evaluating investment opportunities in these fields.
    ~ Extensive network within the Canadian deeptech and hardtech ecosystem, including strong connections with academia, research institutions, innovation hubs, government agencies, and industry stakeholders.
    ~ Proven ability to develop and execute strategic plans to expand network operations nationally and internationally, while also generating revenue to sustain its activities.
    ~ Experience in fundraising and capital deployment, with the ability to secure funding from various sources and effectively allocate resources to support portfolio companies.
    ~ Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a team towards common goals, while also fostering a culture of innovation and collaboration.
    ~ Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders and represent the network effectively in various forums.
    ~ Entrepreneurial mindset with a passion for driving innovation and supporting startups, coupled with a commitment to advancing the Canadian deeptech ecosystem.
    ~ Bachelor's degree in business, finance, engineering, or a related field; advanced degree or professional certification in venture capital, finance, or a related discipline preferred.
    ~ Founding a deeptech or hardtech startup or working as a senior executive in such a startup is an asset, as it provides valuable firsthand experience and insight into the challenges and opportunities faced by startups in these sectors.
    ~ Experience serving as a board member for an organization, particularly in a leadership capacity, is also an asset, as it demonstrates your ability to provide strategic guidance and governance oversight.
