    This posting will be used to one permanent fulltime position working 75-hours bi-weekly.

Mental Wellness and Substance Use Services offers a goal focused approach to providing harm-reduction or recovery-based services for all individuals seeking to reduce the symptoms of mental wellness and/or substance use issues. Mental Wellness and Substance Use Services provides counselling, nursing, outreach, social work, support, primary health care, withdrawal management, harm-reduction and live-in treatment services from a person centered, client led and evidence-based model of care.

    This opportunity

    Reporting to the Director, Mental Wellness & Substance Use Services, this position is responsible for providing collaborative leadership and direction for the operations and clinical management, utilization and risk management, and quality improvement of mental wellness and substance use programs in Yukon Communities. This position is responsible for community-based counselling, mental health nursing, mental health supports and all mental wellness and substance use health care referrals in all Yukon Communities. The Manager will work closely with clinical supervisors to inform evidence-based, culturally accessible, trauma-informed and client centered care for all those seeking supports for their mental health and/or substance use.

    This position will be responsible for working closely with all stakeholders and partners providing health and community care in the community. The Manager will work closely with all First Nation Government Health Departments to ensure that wrap-around mental wellness services are provided, considering the needs of each community and First Nation. This position will work closely with allied health partners such as the RCMP, Emergency Medical Services, Community Nursing, non-government organizations and community members to innovate, design and complement community health programs for up to 14 communities outside of Whitehorse. This position is an opportunity for someone who has a strong knowledge of the clinical application of mental wellness services and a desire to support the public service through relationship building, public administration and focusing on reconciliation to improve health care delivery.

    Essential qualifications

    Please submit your resume clearly demonstrating how you meet the qualifications below. Selections for further consideration will be based solely on the information you provide in your resume.

    • A bachelor's or master's degree in a related field, with significant experience providing clinical social work, counselling, inpatient or outreach services to high-risk substance users and clients experiencing social challenges. Graduate education in a related field may be considered an asset.
    • Significant progressive management experience in change management within mental wellness and substance use programs and services.
    • Significant experience managing inter-disciplinary health teams, which include the provision of counselling, social work, nursing, and outreach support services.
    • Considerable experience managing human and financial resources in a mental wellness and substance use setting.
    • Significant experience working with First Nations Governments departments of Justice or Health and Social to support, design or adapt mental wellness programs in a rural setting.
