    Job Summary

    Reporting to the Senior Procurement Specialist - Fleet Management will support all analytical activities necessary to deliver on the category management strategies, and support strategic sourcing events. The Senior Category Analyst will also monitor the delivery of key contracts, capture of financial savings through negotiation of contract terms, conditions and monitoring of supplier performance.

    The Category Analyst, Procurement and Supply Management will work with Category Manager to analyze and present data during the baseline, strategize and deliver phases of the category management process, and develop sourcing project plan, prepare procurement process documentation and manage the event through to evaluation and final recommendation. The Analyst will also ensure that the process follows the CN Procurement Policy and obtains all of the appropriate approvals.

    Main Responsibilities

    · Executing Category Management strategies working with cross functional teams

    · Developing, maintaining and enhancing CN's approach to the supply market

    · Contributing to demand planning & forecasting activities

    · Assessing new market entrants and non-traditional suppliers

    · Performing detailed analysis on categories to understand the market trends, cost drivers, suppliers and best practices

    · Providing input to value propositions and sourcing options leveraging various techniques (e.g. TCO modelling)

    · Developing and recommending commercial and contracting strategies

    · Supporting Sourcing (RFx Process) process including evaluation

    · Supporting the development and negotiation of contracts, focusing on risk management, best-in-class T&C's and correct schedule utilization

    · Supporting the supplier performance and relationship management process driving overall value from contracts and ensuring key elements of the original category strategy are achieved via supplier performance management

    · Monitoring contract conditions for adherence by the suppliers including supporting the rate validation process and follow up with suppliers

    · Coaching business unit contract owners to drive performance and compliance of contracts

    · Working with Buyers to ensure all rates and agreements are appropriately administered in the P2P process (i.e. SAP, Ariba, Fieldglass)

    · Monitoring Spend against the delegated authority under the Award of Business (AOB) to ensure compliance

    · Reporting savings and benefits against the function's objectives

    Working Conditions

    · Some travel (infrequent and short trips) may be necessary

    · May sometimes involve outdoor working conditions and/or industrial conditions and/or railroad operating conditions (night/day/weekends) in order to gain an understanding of the internal customers' requirements or of the supplier's manufacturing or service conditions

    Requirements

    Experience

    · Minimum 2 years of experience in a similar role

    · Ability to read and understand basic contract documents

    Education/Certification/Designation

    · University degree in Supply Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or Law or any other related field

    Technical Skills/Knowledge

    · Strong technical skills related to data tools, presentation of data and strategic sourcing

    · Understand category management

    · Understand CN's procurement policies and procedures

    · Understand thoroughly contract structure, terms and conditions and supplier performance

    · Basic understanding of commercial aspects of product/service categories

    · Understanding of rail transportation or logistic industry is preferred

    · Experience with Ariba or similar procurement systems is preferred
