    About this opportunity:

    Cenovus is currently looking for a Senior Development Engineer to join the Conventional Heavy Oil asset team in Calgary.

    Reporting to the Senior Manager, Conventional Heavy Oil Reservoir and Production Engineering, the Senior Development Engineer, Conventional Heavy Oil (CHO) will work within a technical team responsible for optimizing Conventional Heavy Oil assets and progressing development of Cenovus's strategy within the Conventional Heavy Oil asset base located in the Lloydminster area of Saskatchewan and Alberta. The candidate will work in a multidiscipline technical and business environment to provide streamlined development scope and ensure that all aspects of development are considered across a variety of areas and projects.

    Responsibilities:

    • Translate strategy and priorities into development plans and actions
    • Maximize value of existing Conventional Heavy Oil assets by working collaboratively with asset team members (Reservoir, Geoscience, Production, Field Operations and Mineral Land)
    • Work with multidisciplinary teams to plan and determine requirements for infrastructure and facility scoping for future development and optimization projects
    • Own the surface lockdown stage of the development planning process, working with SMEs in D&P, surface land, well delivery, facilities engineering and operations in order to progress new well development scope forward in a timely manner
    • Work collaboratively with asset development business opportunity managers and program managers to streamline planning processes
    • Support long range planning activities within CHO
    • Conduct development risk assessments for proposed projects, identifying potential challenges/bottlenecks and develop mitigation strategies
    • Advance development projects by providing inputs for design of wells, facilities and pipelines

    Qualifications:

    • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada
    • Professional Engineer (P. Eng.) accredited with APEGA/APEGS
    • 8+ years of reservoir/production engineering experience
    • Facility Engineering experience is an asset.
    • Experience in water/polymer flood operations is an asset
    • Strong organizational, interpersonal and communications skills
    • Demonstrated ability to learn new concepts quickly
    • Strong analytical, problem-solving and attention to detail
    • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
    • Models the values of Cenovus in all interactions and activities
