    Job Description

    About this role:

    We are seeking an Assistant General Counsel for North America to join our Legal & Compliance team in Toronto. You will report to our Deputy General Counsel, Americas.

    As a global reinsurer with a local presence, we aim to be adaptable and responsive. Our relationship-focused approach and technical expertise set us apart. You will provide legal advice to our North American businesses and liaise with regulators and clients in the US and Canada.

    Your responsibilities will include:

    • Manage outside counsel for legal matters
    • Offer timely legal advice and solutions
    • Identify and mitigate risks
    • Support on regulatory issues
    • Negotiate reinsurance agreements
    • Provide legal guidance to the business
    • Advise on corporate/commercial matters

    Qualifications

    About you:

    We are looking for a candidate with:

    • A Law degree
    • Experience in legal departments or law firms
    • Knowledge of cyber security and data protection
    • Familiarity with privacy regulations
    • Project management skills
    • Adaptability and positive attitude
    • Fluency in English, additional languages are a plus
    • Strong communication skills
    • Ability to work well in a team
