    Job Description:

    About this job:

    We are hiring an Assistant General Counsel, North America, to join our Legal & Compliance team in Toronto reporting to our Deputy General Counsel, Americas.

    We are a global reinsurer with a local footprint, providing a personal approach with technical skills and client focus.

    Your role involves providing legal advice to our North American businesses, liaising with regulators, and managing legal projects.

    • Retain, oversee, and manage outside counsel
    • Assess legal and compliance issues
    • Identify and manage legal risks
    • Support on regulatory matters
    • Negotiate reinsurance agreements
    • Provide legal advice to non-legal managers
    • Offer corporate/commercial advice
    Qualifications:

    About you:

    • Law degree from an accredited school
    • Four or more years of legal experience
    • Experience in (re)insurance or financial institutions
    • Knowledge of cyber security and data protection
    • Experience with life and health insurance products
    • Project management skills
    • Open to change attitude
    • Fluent in English
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
    • Time management and organizational skills
    • Ability to work well in a team
    • Creativity and initiative
