    POSITION TYPE PERMANENT, FULL-TIME

    Program Facilitators are responsible for developing and facilitating culturally informed programming, life skills enhancing workshops, parenting, and therapeutic groups in all 8 Southeast communities, for young adults who have aged out of Agency care.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Researching, organizing, supporting and delivering programming that includes but is not limited to: cultural and land-based activities; parenting programs; pre-employment training; life skills enhancing workshops, recreational activities and therapeutic groups.
  • Coordinating and managing program referrals.
  • Creatively engage and empower program participants while maintaining a safe and accessible environment.
  • Build positive and respectful relationships by providing inspiration, support, and guidance.
  • Assist in maintaining accurate program records including incident reports and attendance.
  • Other duties as assigned.

    • QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Post-secondary degree/diploma in social services (an equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered).
  • Demonstrated understanding and appreciation of Anishinaabe cultural beliefs, values, norms, ceremonies, and teachings.
  • Demonstrated ability to work respectfully and effectively with First Nation communities i.e., leadership, children, families, colleagues, collaterals, as well as have an understanding of the Southeast communities.
  • Working knowledge Microsoft Office (i.e., Word, Excel, and Outlook), CFSIS, and IM.
  • Proficiency with Internet-related research and work-related applications.
  • Ability to speak Ojibwe is an asset.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Valid drivers' licence and reliable vehicle.
  • Satisfactory Criminal Record; Child Abuse Registry; and Prior Contact Check.
  • Ability to travel to communities on a regular basis.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours, including evenings and/or weekends.
