    Academic Clinical Psychologist/Full-time Faculty Member – Anxiety Disorders

    We invite applications for an outstanding opportunity available for the full-time position of Academic Clinical Psychologist/ Full-time Faculty Member with appropriate experience to work in the Department of Psychiatry & Behavioural Neurosciences (DPBN), McMaster University – Anxiety Disorders. This full-time faculty appointment is in the Faculty of Health Sciences at McMaster, with financial compensation coming from other salaried employment through our partner hospital, St. Joseph's Healthcare Hamilton.

    The appointee of this position will hold a full-time academic appointment in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioural Neurosciences at an academic rank appropriate to their credentials and experience. The position offers exceptional opportunities for career growth and development commensurate with academic rank, qualifications, and experience.

    We are particularly interested in candidates who have demonstrated research interest and expertise in one or more of the following areas: eating disorders and health psychology. The successful candidate will be expected to pursue innovative and independent research at the highest international level and to establish an outstanding, competitive, and externally funded research program.

    Candidates for this position are also expected to have experience and expertise in psychology education, including through teaching and supervision of clinical psychology practicum students and resident trainees. The successful candidate will also have experience conducting academic activities that complement and enhance our existing departmental strengths in Addictions and that encourage growth within this area.

    The appointee to this position will participate fully in all appropriate departmental and divisional administrative, educational and research committees and meetings and will contribute, collaborate, and consult to other programs departmentally.

    The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioural Neurosciences in the Michael G. DeGroote School of Medicine, Faculty of Health Sciences at McMaster University is a multidisciplinary Department consisting of MD and non-MD faculty working within a unique regional network of psychiatric services that integrates two general hospitals, a network of community services, a 24-hour regional psychiatric emergency service, an innovative shared-care mental health program, and outreach services for children, adults and the elderly.     Qualifications:

  • The candidate will have a PhD or equivalent doctoral degree(s) from a Canadian Psychological Association accredited program or equivalent program and must be licensed to work as a Psychologist in the Province of Ontario, holding a College of Psychologists of Ontario specialty certification in Clinical Psychology (Adult) or an equivalent designation.
  • The candidate will have training and expertise in conducting academic research in the field of eating disorders and health psychology and in the teaching and supervision of clinical psychology trainees, with preference given to candidates with 2-5 years practice experience.
  • The candidate will have demonstrated experience in teaching with all levels of learners and will provide leadership and training to future Psychologists.
  • The candidate will provide evidence of excellent research productivity that aligns with the departmental academic mission and vision demonstrated through a record of high-quality publications in top-ranked and field relevant journals or forthcoming publications meeting high international standards, presentations at significant conferences, and awards.
  • The candidate will hold a full-time employment position as a Clinical Psychologist at our partner organization, St. Joseph's Healthcare Hamilton.
