    Description

    Our client is a global mining company headquartered in downtown Toronto. This position provides an opportunity to lead initiatives to improve accounting processes, develop and implement accounting policies, and oversee the preparation and review of financial statements.

    Responsibilities:

    • Oversee the preparation and review of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and adherence to US GAAP.
    • Develop and maintain accounting policies and procedures in accordance with US GAAP and industry standards, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
    • Identify opportunities for process improvement within the accounting function, streamlining workflows, enhancing internal controls, and optimizing efficiency.
    • Provide guidance on complex non-routine accounting issues, including business combinations and consolidation.
    • Collaborate with the FP&A team to ensure alignment between financial planning and reporting processes, facilitating communication and sharing insights to support strategic decision-making.
    • Coordinate the preparation of internal management reports and external financial disclosures, liaising with auditors and regulatory authorities as needed.
    • Proactively identifying opportunities to enhance financial reporting capabilities and drive continuous improvement initiatives.

    Requirements:

    • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
    • Canadian or US CPA designation (or similar).
    • Previous experience working in the firm environment, mining industry or related field.
    • Experience working in and/or auditing public companies, ideally NYSE and/or TSX listed.
    • Strong technical accounting knowledge with a deep understanding of US GAAP and SEC reporting standards.
    • Experience in process improvement, accounting policy development, and financial statement preparation and analysis.
    • Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments and influence decision-making at all levels of the organization.
